Present menu and provide recommendations on food, sake, beer, whisky, and other beverages (if possible)
Explain promotions and seasonal specials clearly
Ensure guests feel welcomed, attended to, and comfortable throughout their visit
Handle customer feedback and complaints professionally
Serve food and beverages promptly and according to service standards
Monitor tables and anticipate guests needs (refills, additional orders, bill requests)
Upsell beverages, especially alcoholic drinks and premium items
Possess basic knowledge of Japanese alcoholic beverages (sake, highballs, beer, whisky, shochu, etc.)
Recommend suitable drink pairings
Ensure responsible alcohol service (do not overserve intoxicated guests)
Check IDs where necessary
Assist in basic drink preparation (if required)
Ensure bar counter and service areas are clean and organised
Refill bar supplies (ice, garnishes, glassware)
Clear and reset tables efficiently
Support team during peak dinner and late-night service
Handle billing accurately
Process payments (cash, card, PayNow, etc.)
Ensure proper cash balancing at end of shift
Maintain cleanliness of dining area, bar counter, and service stations
Follow hygiene and sanitation standards
Ensure glasses and utensils are polished and presentation-ready
Communicate effectively with kitchen and bar team
Maintain professional attitude at all times
Work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-energy drinking environment
Be punctual and presentable in proper uniform
Prior experience in bar / restaurant / izakaya environment
Comfortable working evening shifts (6pm-late), weekends, and public holidays
Outgoing personality with good communication skills
Able to handle high-pressure service periods
