Air Export Operations Assistant Manager
Location: Singapore (Changi)

(1) Job Summary
- Our client, an established company in the freight forwarding and logistics industry, is seeking an experienced Air Export Operations Assistant Manager to lead its air export operations team.
- This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing daily export operations, ensuring accurate and timely shipment documentation, improving operational processes and maintaining high standards of service and regulatory compliance.
- The successful candidate will lead a team of seven employees and collaborate closely with internal departments, transport partners, airlines and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth movement of air cargo.
- This role will require you to work 5.5 days per week: Mondays to Fridays (10:30am to 7:30pm); Saturdays (9:00am to 1:00pm).
- You will additionally be required to work 1 x full weekend each month (Saturday and Sunday full day), for which overtime pay and off-in-lieu will be given accordingly.
(2) Job Scope
- Lead, supervise and develop a team of seven employees within the air export operations function.
- Oversee daily air export operations and ensure that shipments are processed accurately and within the required timelines.
- Manage the preparation and execution of Air Waybills, export documentation, permits and Certificates of Origin.
- Coordinate with transport providers and internal teams on cargo collection, physical checks, transfers and delivery to the relevant terminals.
- Ensure that all shipments comply with airline requirements, customs regulations, security procedures and internal operating standards.
- Monitor shipment progress and resolve operational issues, documentation discrepancies and service disruptions promptly.
- Review existing workflows and introduce process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, accuracy and compliance.
- Develop, document and implement new Standard Operating Procedures to support operational requirements and the onboarding of new customers.
- Work closely with customer service, sales, transport and other departments to provide customers with a smooth and consistent service experience.
- Support company-wide digitalisation and system improvement initiatives within the air export function.
- Monitor team performance, allocate workloads and provide guidance, training and operational support to team members.
- Handle escalated operational matters and maintain effective communication with customers, airlines, agents and service providers.
- Prepare operational reports and provide updates to management where required.
- Participate in weekend duty approximately once a month, with off-in-lieu and an additional allowance provided.
(3) Job Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of and hands-on experience in air freight export operations.
- Good understanding of Air Waybills, export documentation, customs permits, Certificates of Origin and cargo handling procedures.
- Prior experience leading or supervising an air export operations team is required.
- Familiarity with freight forwarding systems, airline requirements and Singapore customs regulations will be advantageous.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills, with the ability to guide and motivate an operations team.
- Proven ability to identify operational gaps, improve workflows and develop effective Standard Operating Procedures.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, particularly when handling urgent shipments and operational disruptions.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with customers and internal and external stakeholders.
- Resilient, adaptable and able to perform effectively in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment.
- Organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously.
