Position Overview:
As Freight Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the commercial shipping function that support global agriculture commodity trading. You will work closely with freight traders, operators, and cross-functional teams to assist with freight trading ,operational tasks, data analysis, market research, and documentation etc
Key Responsibilities:
. Support the freight team in coordinating freight trading activities and vessel operations
. Monitor vessel positions, using different monitoring platforms and internal systems
. Assist in charter party documentation and post fixture activities like laytime calculations
. Collect and analyse freight market data (e.g., Baltic indices, bunker prices, route performance)
. Conduct market research and analysis on various dry commodities to help support trading activities
. Assist in compiling voyage P&L estimates, cost breakdowns, and freight exposure summaries
. Liaise with shipowners, shipbrokers, agents, and port service providers where needed
. Contribute to internal process improvement and digitisation initiatives
Learning Opportunities:

. Develop analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
. Gain practical knowledge in freight trading and operations
Qualifications & Skills
. Currently pursuing a degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Business, Economics, or related field
. Strong interest in shipping, commodities, and global trade
. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint familiarity with AIS tracking or freight tools is a plus
. Analytical mindset with attention to detail
. Proactive, adaptable, and self-motivated learner
. Excellent communication and teamwork skills
. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (Mandarin or any other language is a plus).
