Urbanflow is an AI-native spin-off from the National University of Singapore (NUS) building tools for sustainable cities and high-performance buildings. We combine advanced urban and building science (daylight, energy, wind, outdoor thermal comfort) with modern AI to help planners, architects, and engineers design better environments, faster.

Role Description

We are hiring a Founding Engineer / Researcher to join the early team in Singapore (hybrid). You will work directly with the co-founders to design, build, and deploy AI-driven workflows for urban and building performance simulation. This role spans research, prototyping, and product engineering, and is ideal for someone who enjoys high ownership, ambiguity, and wearing many hats in a startup setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software pipelines that integrate AI/ML with building and urban simulation tools
• Apply and adapt simulation methods (e.g., daylight, energy, wind, outdoor thermal comfort) to real projects and products
• Run experiments, benchmark models, and help translate research into robust product features
• Collaborate closely with co-founders on product direction and technical roadmap
• Engage with early partners and users to understand workflows and iterate quickly on solutions

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills (preferably Python) and experience with AI/ML frameworks
• Hands-on experience with at least one of: daylight, building energy, wind, or outdoor thermal comfort modeling/simulation
• Some knowledge of AI Agents/LLMs
• Familiarity with urban or building performance tools (e.g., EnergyPlus, Radiance, CFD tools, etc.) is a plus
• Comfort working in a fast-moving, low-structure startup environment with high agency and ownership
