Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled R&D Engineer - Foundation Equipment to join our dynamic Research & Development team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, development, testing, and improvement of foundation engineering equipment such as piling rigs, diaphragm wall equipment, rotary drilling machines, and related accessories. This position demands a blend of mechanical engineering expertise, innovative thinking, and a strong understanding of geotechnical applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop new foundation equipment and systems to meet performance, safety, and cost objectives.
- Improve and optimize existing product lines (e.g., rotary drilling rigs, hydraulic grabs, CFA rigs).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Management, Manufacturing, and Field Service to translate market needs into technical solutions.
- Conduct structural and mechanical analysis (FEA, stress testing, fatigue analysis) for equipment components.
- Lead prototype development, testing, and validation in lab and field environments.
- Prepare technical documentation: design drawings, specifications, test plans, and reports.
- Research and apply new technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes to improve equipment performance.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company quality systems.
- Support field trials and gather user feedback to inform design iterations.
- Stay current with trends in geotechnical equipment, construction techniques, and emerging R&D methodologies.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in heavy equipment design, preferably foundation or construction machinery.
- Strong knowledge of structural and mechanical design principles.
- Proficient in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo) and FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus).
- Understanding of hydraulic systems, power transmission, and machine kinematics.
- Experience with prototype development and field testing.
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., EN, ISO, CE, or equivalent).
- Good communication skills and ability to work in cross-disciplinary teams.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for site testing and customer support.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with geotechnical construction methods (e.g., bored piles, diaphragm walls, CFA, micropiles).
- Knowledge of control systems and machine automation.
- Background in sustainability-focused design (e.g., low-emission solutions, material efficiency).
- Experience working with global teams or in a multinational engineering environment.
