Your New Role As a Footwear Designer, you will be responsible for developing creative and commercially relevant product designs for seasonal collections. This role combines trend research, design conceptualisation, and product development, requiring close collaboration with cross‑functional teams to ensure ideas are translated into market‑ready products.
You will play a key role in shaping product direction, balancing creativity with consumer insights, cost considerations, and production feasibility. Key Responsibilities 1. Market Research & Insight Development
Conduct market research and store visits to stay updated on consumer behaviour, trends, and competitor movements.
Analyse customer feedback and performance data to identify opportunities for product improvement.
Translate market insights into actionable design and product development strategies.
2. Design & Concept Development
Create and develop seasonal footwear collections aligned with brand direction and market needs.
Generate design concepts with a focus on ergonomics, functionality, and user experience.
Present ideas effectively through mood boards, sketches, and CAD visualisation.
3. Product Development & Execution
Work closely with technical and sourcing teams to ensure designs are feasible, cost‑effective, and suitable for mass production.
Prepare accurate product specifications to support prototype development and sample creation.
Conduct sample reviews and quality checks during development stages to ensure consistency and execution standards.
4. Commercial & Performance Analysis
Analyse sales data and product performance to refine future collections.
Ensure alignment between design direction, commercial objectives, and customer preferences.
Continuously improve product offerings through structured review processes.
5. Trend & Innovation Management
Source new materials, finishes, and design ideas to keep collections fresh and relevant.
Maintain strong awareness of fashion, retail, and lifestyle trends.
6. Project & Team Coordination
Manage timelines effectively to meet seasonal launch deadlines.
Maintain structured workflows, planning frameworks, and documentation processes.
Contribute to team collaboration, knowledge sharing, and creative development initiatives.
Qualifications
Degree in Fashion Design, Footwear Design, Fashion Marketing, or a related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of experience in fashion or footwear design.
Strong knowledge of footwear construction, materials, and product development processes, particularly in women's footwear.
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (advanced) and CAD tools (e.g. Rhino or similar).
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic data analysis.
Strong conceptual thinking, storytelling, and design presentation skills.
Excellent time management with the ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
Passionate about fashion with a strong eye for trends and consumer behaviour.
