We are looking for a Business Development Manager Foodgrade. You will be responsible for developing and growing business within the food-grade liquid tank container sector. The role focuses on acquiring new customers and expanding existing accounts by delivering compliant, efficient, and cost-effective intermodal logistics solutions for food-grade liquids such as edible oils, spirits, wine, juices, syrups and other liquid food products. The position requires strong commercial skills combined with in-depth knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and intermodal transport operations.

Stolt Tank Containers (STC) is a leading provider of door-to-door transportation services for bulk-liquid chemicals and food-grade products. With a fleet of more than 42,000 tank containers, owns a worldwide network of 22 owned and joint venture depots.

What You Will Be Doing

As our Business Development Manager Foodgrade. You will be responsible for developing and growing business within the food-grade liquid tank container sector. The role focuses on acquiring new customers and expanding existing accounts by delivering compliant, efficient, and cost-effective intermodal logistics solutions for food-grade liquids such as edible oils, spirits, wine, juices, syrups and other liquid food products. The position requires strong commercial skills combined with in-depth knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and intermodal transport operations.

Key Responsibilities

Foodgrade Business Development & Sales

  • Identify and secure new business opportunities in food-grade liquid intermodal logistics.
  • Develop long-term relationships with food producers, traders, processors.
  • Lead commercial negotiations, develop, with the pricing team. pricing strategies, and contract development.
  • Prepare and present customized logistics proposals and presentations, tenders, and solution designs.

Market & Strategic Development


  • Meet or exceed defined revenue, margin, and growth targets.
  • Monitor market trends, customer requirements, and regulatory developments in food-grade liquid logistics.
  • Identify opportunities for new trade lanes, routes, and service offerings.
  • Support strategic STC, SNL initiatives related to network expansion, terminal partnerships, and capacity development.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams on market positioning and customer communication.

Foodgrade Tank Containers Solutions


  • Design end-to-end food-grade intermodal solutions integrating maritime, road, rail, tank containers.
  • Work closely with operations, quality, SHEQ, and technical teams to ensure solutions are operationally feasible and compliant.
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety and quality standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO22000, kosher/halal where applicable).
  • Support customer onboarding and smooth transition from sales to CSMs / operations.

Quality, Compliance & Risk Management


  • Promote best practices for food-grade handling, cleaning, inspection, and documentation.
  • Ensure customer solutions meet hygiene, traceability, and contamination prevention requirements.
  • Support audits, customer quality reviews, and corrective action processes when required.

Key Account Management


  • Act as the primary commercial contact for assigned key food-grade customers.
  • Review customer performance, service levels, and profitability.
  • Identify upselling, cross-selling, and long-term partnership opportunities.
  • Address commercial issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Other Responsibilities


  • Working with the Foodgrade Director and other members of the STC Foodgrade Team to develop and implement the Foodgrade strategy.
  • Set Annual Budget expectations with the Foodgrade Director and Pricing Manager
  • To support and enforce STC and SNL policies and vision.
  • Assist in design or completion of sales presentations when required.
  • Timely preparation and distribution of customers visit reports on CRM.
  • Monthly/Annual updating of Sales Forecasts & Annual input to FOO Budget
  • Assist, when necessary, in the creation of customer quotations within STC systems.
  • To attend various management meetings and Foodgrade related, industry events and exhibitions as required
  • Accounting Assist accounting on receivable issues with Foodgrade clients

Qualifications


  • The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Food Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Foodgrade business development, sales, or commercial roles within tank container food-grade liquid segment.
  • Strong understanding of food-grade liquid supply chains, tank container operations, and intermodal networks.
  • Proven track record in developing new business and managing key customer accounts.
  • Experience with edible oils, spirits, wine, beverages, sweeteners etc liquids
  • Experience with tenders, pricing models, and long-term logistics contracts.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
  • Solid understanding of intermodal logistics (road, rail, and sea).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, analytical, solution-oriented, and detail-focused mindset.
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
  • Knowledge of tank cleaning standards, cleaning station networks, and inspection processes.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and sales pipeline management tools.
