The FSM Responsibilities Shall, Among Others, Include
- Conduct fire safety inspections at each site at least twice a year, and submit reports advising sites on any fire safety risks, ensuring compliance with the Fire Safety Act and Regulations.
- Advise sites on their fire emergency evacuation plans and procedures, ensuring compliance with SCDF regulations, WSH guidelines, and other relevant legislation.
- Conduct regular fire risk assessments and safety audits across facilities.
- Ensure that escape routes are not obstructed by unauthorised structures, goods, or disused items.
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive fire safety policies, procedures, and programs.
- Identify and advise sites on eliminating potential fire hazards; investigate fire incidents, near-misses, and fire-related hazards; and recommend corrective actions.
- Follow up on all findings with the relevant contractors to ensure completion and closure.
- Coordinate with external agencies, such as SCDF, building authorities, and consultants, for inspections, approvals, and compliance reporting.
- Advise on fire safety improvements, emergency planning, and risk mitigation measures.
- Follow up on Fire Certificate processes, including coordination with relevant authorities, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure timely compliance and documentation.
- Ensure that fire safety equipment and systems are inspected, serviced by contractors, and operationally ready at all times. This includes:
- (A) Fire extinguishers, hose reel systems, and hydrants
- (B) Public address systems
- (C) Fire alarm systems
- (D) Emergency lighting
- (E) All other fire safety equipment and installations
