Job Description

  • Develop and maintain forecasting models for key interest rate benchmarks including US (SOFR, 10Y Treasury), Singapore (SORA, 10Y SGS), China (MLF, LPR), and other regional and global DM rates.
  • Produce regular point forecasts, scenario analysis, and interest rate outlooks to support business and client needs.
  • Write and publish regular literature and reports including daily Markets Overview, monthly FX & Rates Strategy reports, and quarterly Global Outlook reports.
  • Conduct ad hoc interest rate and yield curve analysis in response to market-moving events.
  • Leverage strong quantitative modeling, Excel, and Bloomberg skills for data analysis and forecasting.

Advisory, Presentation & Client Engagement

  • Present interest rate insights to internal stakeholders, including sales teams, relationship managers, and senior management.
  • Support client engagement by providing market commentary and insights, acting as a key ambassador for UOB on interest rate matters.
  • Participate in media engagements across print, TV, and digital channels including Bloomberg, Reuters, CNA, Straits Times, and CNBC.
  • Speak at industry events and client forums on interest rate outlooks and market trends.

Fixed Income & Credit Market Understanding

  • Develop a secondary understanding of regional Fixed Income markets.
  • Conduct bottoms-up single security credit research to supplement interest rate analysis when required.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Quantitative Finance, or related field; advanced degrees preferred.
  • 35 years of experience as an Interest Rate Strategist or in a similar quantitative research/strategy role.
  • Proven experience in interest rate modeling, forecasting, and report writing for institutional clients.

Technical Skills & Tools

  • Strong quantitative modeling skills and advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Expertise in Bloomberg and other financial data platforms.
  • Familiarity with macroeconomic and fixed income data analysis.
  • Ability to perform scenario and sensitivity analysis on interest rate movements.
