Job Description

The First VP - Group Strategy and Transformation will be a key leader responsible for driving and shaping United Overseas Bank Ltd's strategic direction and transformation initiatives across the entire organization. This role involves identifying new growth opportunities, optimizing existing operations, and leading critical change programs to ensure the bank's continued competitiveness and innovation in a dynamic financial landscape.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the formulation and refinement of the bank's long-term strategic vision, working closely with senior leadership and business units to align objectives and priorities.
  • Drive the identification, evaluation, and execution of strategic initiatives, including market entry strategies, new product development, digital transformation, and organizational restructuring.
  • Develop comprehensive business cases, financial models, and strategic roadmaps to support proposed initiatives and secure executive buy-in.
  • Oversee and manage complex, cross-functional transformation programs, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to budget, and achievement of desired outcomes.
  • Conduct in-depth market research, competitive analysis, and trend forecasting to inform strategic decision-making and identify emerging opportunities or threats.
  • Collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, including business heads, technology teams, risk management, and legal, to ensure successful strategy implementation.
  • Develop and implement robust performance measurement frameworks to track the progress and impact of strategic initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop a team of strategy and transformation professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as a thought leader within the bank, representing the strategy function in internal and external forums.
  • Prepare and present strategic recommendations and progress updates to the Board of Directors and Executive Committee.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Master's degree (e.g., MBA) from a top-tier institution is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in strategy, management consulting, or corporate development within the financial services industry, with a strong emphasis on banking.
  • Proven track record of leading and successfully delivering complex strategic and transformation programs in a large, multinational organization.
  • Deep understanding of the financial services landscape, including emerging technologies, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and develop actionable insights.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and evolving environment.
  • Proficiency in strategic planning frameworks, project management methodologies, and data analysis tools.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and deliver results under pressure.
