FINOPS PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT

[Locations : Singapore]

We are seeking a strategic and commercially driven Principal Technology Strategy Consultant with deep expertise in FinOps, software license optimization, and technology cost transformation. This role is responsible for helping enterprise clients optimize technology investments across cloud, software licensing, infrastructure, SaaS platforms, and IT operations while aligning technology spend with business outcomes.

The ideal candidate combines executive-level advisory capabilities with strong technical and financial acumen. You will lead strategic engagements focused on cloud financial management, software asset management (SAM), vendor optimization, licensing governance, and enterprise technology transformation initiatives.

This role requires strong experience navigating complex enterprise environments, managing executive stakeholders, and delivering measurable cost efficiencies without compromising operational performance or innovation goals.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Advisory

  • Lead enterprise technology cost transformation and optimization initiatives.
  • Advise CIOs, CTOs, CFOs, and procurement leaders on technology investment strategies.
  • Develop technology roadmaps aligned with business objectives, operational efficiency, and financial governance.
  • Assess current-state technology environments and define optimization opportunities across cloud, infrastructure, software, and SaaS.

FinOps Leadership

  • Establish and mature FinOps operating models across multi-cloud environments.
  • Drive cloud cost optimization initiatives
  • Develop forecasting, budgeting, and cloud financial reporting frameworks.
  • Define showback and chargeback methodologies.
  • Build executive dashboards and KPIs for cloud financial performance.

License Optimization & Software Asset Management

  • Lead software license optimization assessments across major enterprise vendors
  • Identify software underutilization, licensing risks, and compliance gaps.
  • Optimize software consumption models including perpetual, subscription, SaaS, and hybrid licensing structures.
  • Support vendor negotiation strategies and contract renewals.
  • Define software governance frameworks and license management controls.
  • Partner with procurement and legal teams on commercial optimization initiatives.

Transformation & Governance

  • Design governance frameworks for cloud, software assets, and technology consumption.
  • Develop policies for cost accountability, tagging standards, asset management, and financial transparency.
  • Drive automation initiatives for technology usage monitoring and optimization analytics.
  • Lead enterprise-wide optimization and rationalization programs.

Stakeholder & Practice Leadership

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior business and technology executives.
  • Lead workshops, executive briefings, and strategic planning sessions.
  • Mentor consultants, analysts, and FinOps practitioners.
  • Contribute to practice development, thought leadership, and go-to-market initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in technology consulting, IT strategy, cloud transformation, or software asset management.
  • Proven expertise in:
  • FinOps , Cloud financial management ,Software license optimization ,IT cost transformation , Technology governance
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise licensing models and commercial constructs.
  • Experience working with major cloud platforms: AWS ,GCP, Azure
  • Experience managing enterprise-scale transformation programs.
  • Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications from the FinOps Foundation.
  • Experience with Software Asset Management (SAM) frameworks and tooling.
  • Knowledge of IT Financial Management (ITFM) and Technology Business Management (TBM) practices.
  • Familiarity with tools such as: Apptio ,Flexera ,ServiceNow SAM Pro
  • Cloud certifications from AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience supporting enterprise contract negotiations and vendor management.
  • MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification preferred.
