About the Role

We are seeking a versatile and self-sufficient individual to develop and scale strategic partnerships with banks, payment networks, card schemes, PSPs, PayFacs, BIN sponsors, and settlement providers. You will own the end-to-end partner lifecycle: from identification, negotiation, and onboarding to long-term growth and optimization.

This role is critical in building our global payments and embedded finance ecosystem enabling merchant acceptance, payout flows, issuing, settlement, and regulatory licensing across regions.

Key Responsibilities

Partnership Development & Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and secure partnerships with sponsoring/acquiring banks, card networks, PSPs, PayFacs, and alternative payment providers.
  • Structure partnership models across acquiring, issuing, settlement, and FX to optimize margin and compliance coverage.
  • Manage partner lifecycle outreach due diligence onboarding performance optimization.
  • Maintain an active network across banks, processors, and card associations to stay ahead of emerging opportunities.

Deal Structuring & Execution

  • Lead commercial discussions covering pricing, reserves, underwriting, and settlement structures.
  • Negotiate and finalize agreements with Legal & Compliance to ensure commercial and regulatory alignment.
  • Support integration teams during partner onboarding and certification phases.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with Product, Risk, Legal, Finance, and Compliance to align partner capabilities with product roadmaps (payments, payouts, subscription billing, merchant financing).
  • Collaborate with Risk & Compliance to ensure KYC/AML and merchant monitoring frameworks are robust.
  • Provide internal education on partner capabilities and new market opportunities.

Market Intelligence & Strategy

  • Monitor market and regulatory trends across North America, APAC, and EMEA to identify partnership and licensing opportunities.
  • Analyze competitor payment stacks and partnership models (PayFac, ISO/MSP, EMI/PI, etc.).
  • Prepare internal insights and recommendations to inform expansion strategy and pricing optimization.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years (Senior / Director) or 35 years (Manager) of experience in payment partnerships, fintech BD, or FI relationship management.
  • Proven success in structuring or managing PayFac, PSP, or ISO/MSP partnerships.
  • Deep understanding of card network rules, acquiring/issuing flows, merchant risk models, and cross-border settlement mechanics.
  • Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-sufficient, entrepreneurial, and comfortable working in a fast-changing, cross-functional environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of embedded finance, alternative payment methods, or stablecoin/crypto settlement.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as HK MSO, Fintrac MSB, MAS MPI, EU EMI/PI.
  • Background in SaaS, eCommerce, or cross-border fintech environments.
