Job Overview
The Sales Business Partner plays a strategic role in supporting business growth and profitability by partnering closely with Sales, Operations, and Senior Management. This role provides financial insights, commercial analysis, pricing support, and strategic guidance to drive revenue, cash, margin improvement, and informed decision-making. This role is not just reporting numbers-it actively shapes commercial decisions and challenges assumptions to protect profitability.
Job Responsibilities
1. Commercial Strategy & Business Partnering
Strategic Planning Support
. Lead annual strategic planning and mid-term business planning (3-5 year outlook).
. Translate sales strategy into financial impact (revenue, gross margin, contribution margin)
. Assess sustainability of growth assumptions and cost implications
Contract & Deal Support
. Perform financial evaluation of new business opportunities: Revenue projections/Margin analysis/Cost absorption impact/Capex requirements/Break-even analysis
. Identify hidden risks (volume commitments, FX exposure, price erosion clauses, penalties).
. Support contract negotiations with data-backed financial scenarios.
Business Challenge & Influence
. Challenge overly aggressive pricing or unrealistic volume assumptions.
. Provide fact-based recommendations to optimize profitability.
. Balance growth vs margin trade-offs.
Expected Deliverables:
. Deal evaluation models
. Business case presentations to management
2. Budgeting & Forecasting (Commercial Focus)
Drive accurate revenue forecasting and align financial projections with sales pipeline reality.
Revenue Forecast Validation
. Review sales pipeline and assess probability-weighted revenue.
. Identify risks such as: Volume shortfall/Delayed program launches/Customer order fluctuations/Unit price
deviations
. Challenge optimistic forecasts with data trends.
Rolling Forecast & Scenario Planning
. Conduct: Best case / Base case / Worst case scenarios / Sensitivity analysis (volume drop, price reduction, FX
change)
. Translate commercial changes into bottom-line impact.
Variance Analysis
. Analyze revenue and margin variance vs: Budget/Prior forecast/Prior year
. Identify root causes (mix change, cost inflation, pricing pressure).
Expected Deliverables:
. Monthly commercial forecast deck
. Pipeline risk assessment
. Variance commentary for management review
3. Business Performance Monitoring
Provide visibility on whether the commercial engine is performing as expected.
KPI Development & Tracking
. Develop and monitor: Gross margin % / Contribution margin / Sales growth rate / Order intake vs target / Pipeline conversion rate
. Establish early warning indicators.
Performance Review Support
. Support monthly and quarterly business review meetings.
. Provide commercial insights beyond numbers:
- Is margin erosion structural or temporary
- Are certain customers consistently underperforming
. Recommend corrective actions.
Margin Enhancement Initiatives
. Identify: Cost pass-through opportunities / Product mix optimization / Repricing opportunities
. Track implementation and impact.
Expected Deliverables:
. Commercial performance dashboard
. Monthly management pack
. Margin improvement tracking sheet
. Executive summary slides
4. Risk Management & Governance
Protect the company from financial and commercial exposure
Contract Risk Assessment
. Review commercial terms: Liquidated damages clauses / Warranty exposure / Volume guarantees / Currency
clauses
. Quantify financial exposure where possible.
Policy Compliance
. Price management: Ensure price approvals/maintenances are correct
Validate discount approvals.
. Ensure business cases meet hurdle rates (IRR, payback).
Financial Controls
. Prevent margin leakage through: Incorrect costing / Unapproved rebates / Inaccurate master data
. Support audit documentation for commercial transactions.
Expected Deliverables:
. Risk assessment checklist
. Contract financial review memo
. Audit support documentation
5. Other ad-hoc tasks assigned
Requirements:
. 3 - 5 years of working experience, preferably from Manufacturing/Automobile/FMCG industry
. Strong analytical skills with ability to set priorities, complete work with minimal supervision, and meet deadlines
. Can do spirit with problem solving mindset
. Excellent writing and communication skills
. Self-motivated and result orientation
. Proven track record in building strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at various level
. Developed financial management/ accounting skills are essential
. High level of proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP (FICO module, desirable: SD, MM, EC-PCA)
. Experience in managing multiple priorities and stakeholders in a culturally diverse environment.
. Excellent team player who demonstrates flexibility and embraces collaboration
