Position Overview
To oversee the financial reporting processes in all accounting of Wallem Ship Agency to ensure accurate and timely delivery of financial information to support business decision making.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all corporate accounting including but not limited to, preparation of statutory accounts, preparation of management accounts and general ledger journals.
- Handle and address audit and tax compliance issues where necessary as well as liaison with external auditors, tax advisors.
- Manage the timely preparation of the year-end closing, annual budgeting and quarterly estimate processes.
- Perform financial planning (include budgeting, re-forecasting, cashflow forecast) & analysis
- Oversee the monitoring of cash flow and working capital forecast liaising with AP team to hold or proceed payment for supplier invoices
- Controlling AR, AP and GL
- Keep abreast of applicable tax laws, accounting standards and other statutory requirements
- Support Group Transformation Initiatives
- Ensure accuracy and timely preparation and delivery of Vessel Disbursement Accounts, Statement of Accounts as well as any related invoicing documents to all existing principals.
- Liaison and point of contact for Client for variances between Proforma and Final DA
- Subject to the availability of principals funds, ensure all vendors and subcontractors are paid timely to prevent any disruption of services.
- Ensure outstanding receivables are monitored and cleared on a timely basis and that any overdue outstanding are being followed up closely with principals to minimize risk of any bad debts.
- Set-up and maintain proper account coding and documentation for accounting system in accordance with Group Agency structure.
- Optimization of accounting processes and controls.
- Act as a mentor as well as train and develop members of the Agency Finance team.
- Identify and implement continuous efficiency measures for DA processing and submission
- On-time internal reporting i) Closing the month-end books by D+4 of every month ii) Quarter-end and year-end reporting pack submission
- On time external reporting i) FDA submission ii) Annual tax filing / audited financial statement
- Cashflow management i) Working capital maintenance ii) Timely AR settlement request iii) Maintain positive principal funding position iv) Quarterly update of cashflow forecast v) Cash repatriation
- Annual review and update of TP / Service Level agreements
Qualifications
- University degree holder in Accountancy or equivalent disciplines
- CPA or ACCA accredited or equivalent professional qualification
- Minimum of 5 years finance experience in a ship agencies company or 8 years experience in a maritime related industry
- Minimum of 3 years experience managing a team or in finance and project management with ERP implementation
