Our client is a new Singapore oil trading branch of a Hong Kong listed company. They are an established oil and gas trading company with a growing presence in Singapore. As they move into a stable phase of operations, they are seeking qualified and proactive finance professional to strengthen their finance function and support continued growth in the Asia Pacific region.
We are looking for a detail-oriented and hands-on Finance Manager to manage day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate bank remittance arrangements, managing accounts receivable and payable, maintaining precise bookkeeping, and supporting financial reporting and compliance. The ideal candidate will have experience in commodity trading finance, a strong understanding of Singapore regulatory requirements, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a small, dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities
1.Treasury & Banking Operations
- Manage daily cash flow, monitor bank balances, and execute payments (trade settlements, supplier invoices, overheads) and the employee reimbursement process.
- Handle letters of credit (LC), bank guarantees, and other trade finance instruments.
- Liaise with banks for day-to-day operations and financing arrangements.
- Monitor foreign exchange exposure and execute FX trades as required.
- Manage the complete lifecycle of company fixed assets. Handle office procurement and general administrative support.
2. Tax & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of GST returns.
- Support corporate tax computations and filings in compliance with IRAS regulations.
- Stay updated on changes in local accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements affecting the trading industry.
3. Financial Reporting & Control
- Maintain full sets of books and ensure timely month-end and year-end closing.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, and variance analysis.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations, including bank, intercompany, and counterparty reconciliations.
- Assist in annual audit preparation and liaise with external auditors. Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
4. Trade Support & Operations Finance
- Verify and process trade-related invoices, contracts, and settlement documents.
- Reconcile trade deals with finance records and ensure accurate P&L tracking per deal.
- Work closely with traders and operations team to ensure accurate and timely recording of transactions.
- Calculate and accrue brokerage, commissions, and other trading-related costs.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in financial works such as treasury, accounting, auditing, preferably within oil & gas trading, commodity trading, or a related trading environment.
- Proficient in English and Mandarin (spoken and written), to communicate effectively with regional stakeholders, banks, and team members.
- Strong hands-on experience with accounting systems (e.g., Oracle, QuickBooks, Xero, SAP, or similar) and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Solid understanding of Singapore GAAPIFRS, GST, and corporate tax regulations.
- Proactive, able to work independently, and adaptable in a fast-paced trading setting.
- Preferably holding a valid Singapore CPA (CA Singapore) certification.
