Financial Controller for a clean energy transition company (based in Pioneer/Gul Circle 2 to 3 times a week)

  • At least 15+ years of finance experience with a strong focus covering FP&A, business partnering (including cost management) gained with established corporates
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to connect operational drivers to financial outcomes
  • Comfortable being based on-site in Pioneer/Gul Circle area at least 2-3 days a week

This is a fast-growing clean energy transition company which is fully owned by a SGX listed investment conglomerate. The co is an exciting growth company with lots of future potential. For this role, you will be based at the Pioneer/Gul Circle plant about 2 to 3 times as week and based at Raffles Place (i.e. the parent co's office) for the other 2 days per week.

As the Financial Controller, you will provide strategic financial leadership and partner closely with the leadership teams (from this company and the parent company) to drive business performance and decision-making. The incumbent will oversee financial planning and reporting, business partnership and controllership, governance and risk management, while supporting key initiatives such as business development, M&As and global partnerships. You will actively engage with external stakeholders and will be responsible for building and leading a high-performing finance team while driving continuous improvement and digitalisation within the function to support scalable growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall finance function, driving financial strategy and ensuring alignment with Group's strategic priorities and corporate governance standards
  • Oversee financial planning and performance management, including budgeting, forecasting and analysis, providing forward-looking insights to support senior management decision-making
  • Oversee financial reporting matters, including group reporting to the parent company
  • Evaluate financial performance against plans, identify key variances and risks, and influence timely corrective actions across business units
  • Act as a strategic business partner to the leadership team, shaping financial direction, challenging assumptions and ensuring alignment between financial outcomes and business objectives
  • Partner with operational and department leaders to provide financial insights, drive profitability, improve cost management, and support business decision-making
  • Translate financial data into actionable recommendations and participate in business reviews and operational meetings to support strategic objectives
  • Establish and maintain robust governance, controls and compliance frameworks, including oversight of tax, regulatory and statutory requirements
  • Support and lead finance workstreams for corporate initiatives, including business developments, M&As and global partnerships
  • Engage with the Board of Directors and Management, providing clear financial insights and supporting discussions on key strategic and governance matters
  • Provide oversight of enterprise risk management and insurance coverage, ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are in place to safeguard the Company's interests
  • Drive continuous improvement and digitalisation initiatives within the finance function, enhancing efficiency, scalability and data integrity
  • Manage relationships with key external stakeholders, including banks, auditors, tax advisors and other professional partners
  • Build and lead a Finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous development

Requirements

  • Degree in Accountancy, Finance, Engineering or equivalent from a reputable university, with a recognised CPA or CA qualification
  • At least 15+ years of finance experience with a strong focus covering FP&A, business partnering (including cost management) gained with established corporates
  • Added exposure to manufacturing/ transportation/energy may be useful, but this is really not a must
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to connect operational drivers to financial outcomes
  • Demonstrates sound judgement, integrity and strong governance mindset
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, while driving alignment across multiple stakeholders
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to operate effectively at senior management and Board level
  • Hands-on and able to work in a lean team
  • Comfortable being based on-site in Pioneer/Gul Circle area at least 2-3 days a week (with 2 days based in Raffles Place office)
