The Scope

We are seeking a hands-on and commercially driven Finance Manager to lead the full spectrum of finance functions in a growing biotech and lab construction business. You will be part of Esco Aster's Finance team and contribute towards the overall site mission and objectives. You will provide support in financial audits, reconciliation of accounts payable and other day-to-day finance office functions.

The company is currently in a transformation and growth phase, expanding towards higher regulatory and operational standards within the GMP space. This involves significant investment in projects, systems, and capabilities.

This role is critical in providing financial clarity and discipline during this high-investment phase, ensuring strong cost control, accurate reporting, and actionable insights to support sustainable growth and strategic decision-making.

Primary work location: Ayer Rajah Crescent, Singapore

Job Responsibilities

1. Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Review and oversee full set of accounts and ensure timely month-end and year-end closing
  • Review management accounts and financial statements prepared by the finance team, ensuring compliance with Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS)
  • Key finance lead in liaise with auditors, tax agents, and external stakeholders
  • Strengthen internal controls and financial governance frameworks, ensuring risks are identified and properly managed

2. Costing, Project Control & Financial Visibility (Core Focus)

  • Develop and implement robust costing frameworks across projects and operations
  • Provide financial insights on project budgets, cost performance, and profitability, ensuring alignment with approved financial plans and business objectives
  • Review key project financial metrics including cost allocation, SG&A expenses and revenue recognition
  • Analyse project margins and financial performance, identifying key drivers, risks, and areas for improvement
  • Provide clear, structured financial visibility to support management decision-making and strategic planning

3. Budgeting, Forecasting & Business Partnering

  • Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes
  • Perform variance analysis with actionable insights
  • Partner closely with CEO and management team on pricing, cost optimisation, and investment decisions
  • Translate financial data into clear recommendations for non-finance stakeholders

4. Cash Flow & Financial Sustainability

  • Manage cash flow planning in a project-based, investment-heavy environment
  • Oversee and monitor working capital (AR, AP, project collections)
  • Provide forward-looking financial projections and scenario analysis
  • Ensure sufficient liquidity to support ongoing operations and expansion

5. Process Improvement, Systems & Digital Enablement

  • Drive automation and continuous improvement of finance processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
  • Develop structured, data-driven dashboards to support management decision-making
  • Support implementation or optimisation of accounting/ERP systems

6. Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a small finance team
  • Review work, ensure deadlines are met, and maintain high-quality deliverables
  • Build a strong, accountable finance function

Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Professional qualification (ACCA / CPA or equivalent) preferred
  • Minimum 6–8 years of relevant experience, preferably in manufacturing, life sciences, or biotech industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of SFRS and financial reporting
  • Familiarity with cost accounting and GMP/cGMP environment is a plus
  • Hands on, proactive, and results-driven mindset with strong ownership
  • Strong technical accounting foundation with commercial awareness
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Experience with Business Central 365 system and Jet Reports is an advantage
