About Vertical Institute
Vertical Institute is a leading Singapore-based AI training provider focused on equipping working professionals with in-demand, career-advancing skills. We focus on artificial intelligence and other emerging, high-impact technologies, with a strong emphasis on real-world application over theory.
We are a Registered Training Provider (RTP) with SkillsFuture Singapore, and have trained tens of thousands of professionals across both individual and corporate programmes, including partnerships with government agencies and enterprises.
Our mission is to help individuals and organisations stay relevant and competitive in an AI-driven economy. We design and deliver practical, hands-on courses that equip professionals with immediately applicable skills that drive real outcomes at work.
We are a fast-growing organisation that values ownership, speed, and continuous improvement. If you are excited about shaping how AI transforms work and education, you will find strong alignment here.
Why this role matters
- Deliver financial clarity. You will own day-to-day accounting.
- Safeguard compliance. Your work keeps us fully aligned with IRAS, GST, SkillsFuture claims, and audit requirements.
- Improve processes. By applying first-principles thinking, you'll tighten internal controls (credit notes, revenue recognition) and automate routine tasks.
What you'll do
Financial Operations
- Handle full-set accounts and complete month-end close.
- Manage accounts receivable (student fees, SkillsFuture grants, corporate billings) and accounts payable.
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly management accounts, cash-flow forecasts, and variance analyses for the Finance Manager.
- Reconcile revenue between our LMS/CRM and accounting system to ensure accuracy.
Process Improvement
- Maintain and refine finance SOPs, including a quarterly checklist that prevents slip-ups (e.g., timely credit notes for course withdrawals).
- Identify automation opportunities (Xero/QuickBooks integrations, spreadsheet macros) that save time and reduce error.
Stakeholder Support
- Respond to departmental budget queries and provide finance insights for new course launches.
- Assist HR on payroll inputs and CPF reconciliation as needed.
What we're looking for
- Accounting diploma/degree or ACCA at least 1-2 years full-set accounting experience in an SME or fast-growth environment.
- Solid grasp of Singapore FRS, GST rules, and IRAS regulations.
- Proficiency with cloud accounting platforms (Xero, QuickBooks, NetSuite) and advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.
- Meticulous, analytical, and proactive in driving continuous improvement.
- Genuine interest in education and a passion for helping professionals upskill.
What you'll enjoy
- Competitive salary
- Open, high-trust culture that values initiative, accountability, and customer-centricity.
