FINANCE DIRECTOR / SENIOR FINANCE ADVISOR
6-Month Contract | Property / Investment / Asset Management
We are hiring on behalf of our client, an established family-owned business with interests in property and investments, for an experienced Finance Director / Senior Finance Advisor on a 6-month contract.
This is a senior advisory and hands-on leadership role. The successful candidate will work closely with the business owners and management to review the overall finance function, provide strategic financial advice, strengthen financial governance and reporting, and oversee finance operations.
A key part of the role will also be to mentor and develop the existing Financial Controller and finance team, leaving behind stronger processes, controls and capabilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
. Act as a trusted financial advisor to the business owners and senior management, providing commercial and financial insights to support key business and investment decisions.
. Review the overall finance function and identify areas for improvement across financial reporting, controls, processes, governance and team capabilities.
. Provide oversight of day-to-day finance operations while working closely with the Financial Controller and finance team.
. Review management accounts, financial statements, cash flow, budgets, forecasts and other key financial reports.
. Provide financial analysis and advice relating to the group's property, asset management and investment activities.
. Review cash flow, funding requirements, capital allocation and financial performance across the business and investment portfolio.
. Strengthen financial controls, policies, procedures and reporting frameworks where required.
. Review budgeting and forecasting processes and enhance management reporting to provide greater visibility for business owners and management.
. Provide financial oversight and advice on new investments, projects and business opportunities, including financial modelling and commercial evaluation where required.
. Work with external auditors, tax advisors, banks and other professional advisors where appropriate.
. Support management on corporate finance, financing, banking and other strategic financial matters as required.
. Mentor and coach the existing Financial Controller and finance team, strengthening their technical, commercial and leadership capabilities.
. Establish sustainable finance processes and frameworks that can continue to operate effectively after completion of the assignment.
REQUIREMENTS:
. Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline with a recognised professional accounting qualification such as CA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent.
. Significant senior finance leadership experience as Finance Director, CFO, Financial Controller, Head of Finance or Senior Finance Advisor.
. Strong preference for candidates with experience within Property / Real Estate, Asset Management, Investment Management, REITs, Family Offices or investment-related businesses.
. Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial controls and governance.
. Commercially strong with the ability to provide practical financial advice to business owners and senior management.
. Experience reviewing and improving finance functions, systems, controls and reporting processes.
. Exposure to investment analysis, financial modelling, funding and/or corporate finance would be advantageous.
. Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities, with the ability to develop and guide an existing Financial Controller and finance team.
. Comfortable operating within a family-owned or entrepreneurial business environment.
. Hands-on, pragmatic and able to balance strategic advisory responsibilities with operational finance matters.
. Available for a 6-month contract assignment.
