About the Role
The Field Technician supports the POS terminal rental business by attending onsite service requests, installing and replacing terminals, performing basic troubleshooting, and assisting merchants. This is a junior role suitable for fresh graduates or candidates with basic technical skills and willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities
POS Terminal Installation & Support
- Install, replace, swap or collect POS terminals at merchant locations.
- Perform basic setup, including power connection, SIM card checking, network connection, printer roll installation and device testing.
- Guide merchants on basic terminal usage.
- Collect service acknowledgements and installation records.
Basic Troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot common terminal issues such as power, battery, charging, SIM card, network, printer, login and error messages.
- Determine if issues can be resolved onsite or require escalation.
- Replace, reset or collect devices where necessary.
Merchant & Field Support
- Attend onsite support requests within required timelines.
- Communicate professionally with merchants and provide job updates.
- Escalate urgent or unresolved issues promptly.
Device Collection & Inventory
- Collect faulty or returned terminals and accessories.
- Record serial numbers and returned items accurately.
- Assist with device packing, labelling and stock updates.
- Handle company assets responsibly.
Reporting & Documentation
- Update service records after each job.
- Record merchant details, terminal serial numbers, issues and actions taken.
- Submit photos, forms and daily service updates where required.
Qualifications
- Nitec or Diploma in Electronics, IT, Engineering or related fields.
- Basic troubleshooting skills for electronic devices, Android devices or printers.
- Basic understanding of SIM cards, Wi-Fi and mobile network connection.
- Able to communicate in English and Mandarin.
- Possess own motorbike and willing to travel for onsite support.
- Basic computer and mobile app skills.
- Responsible, punctual and willing to learn.
Good to haves
- Experience in field service, POS support, IT support, electronics or customer service is an advantage, but not required.
- Comfortable interacting with merchants and customers onsite.
- Able to follow SOPs and troubleshooting guides.
- Familiar with WhatsApp, email or ticketing systems for job updates.
