Location: Singapore (On-Site)
Employment type: Full-time
About Hivebotics
Hivebotics is a Singapore-based robotics company building and deploying robotic systems for real-world commercial use. As we scale our deployed fleet, we're building out a Field Services team to keep our robots running reliably at client sites.
Role Summary
The Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Hivebotics robotic systems deployed at client sites. This is a hands-on mechanical/electromechanical role suited to someone who is comfortable working independently in the field and wants to grow with a fast-moving robotics startup.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform on-site installation, commissioning, and handover of robotic systems at client locations.
- Carry out routine preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing of deployed robots.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and basic software/sensor faults; carry out repairs or component replacement on site.
- Respond to service call-outs within agreed timelines and escalate unresolved technical issues to engineering.
- Maintain accurate service records, fault logs, and parts usage reports for each site visit.
- Liaise directly with client site staff in a professional manner, representing Hivebotics on the ground.
- Support spare parts inventory management and flag recurring issues to the engineering team.
- Provide basic operational training to client site staff where required.
- Travel to client sites across Singapore as needed; occasional regional travel may be required.
Requirements
- Minimum Higher NITEC in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in mechanical, electromechanical, or robotics field service, maintenance, or technical support.
- Working knowledge of mechanical assemblies, basic electrical wiring, and fault diagnosis; robotics or automation exposure is a strong advantage.
- Comfortable using hand tools and basic diagnostic/test equipment.
- Able to work independently on site with minimal supervision, and to make sound judgment calls under time pressure.
- Valid Class 3 driving licence preferred, given regular travel between client sites.
- Good communication skills in English; able to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical site staff.
- Willingness to be on standby or respond to occasional after-hours call-outs.
What Hivebotics Offers
- The opportunity to work hands-on with deployed robotics technology in a growing startup.
- Direct exposure to the engineering team and a clear path to take on more technical scope as the fleet grows.
- A small, close-knit team where individual contribution is visible and valued.
