The opportunity
A global life sciences materials business is expanding its technical commercial team in Asia Pacific and is looking for an experienced Field Application Scientist to support biopharmaceutical and CDMO customers across Singapore Southeast Asia and selected Australia New Zealand accounts.
Based in Singapore as the regional hub, this role works closely with the Sales organisation to support presales activity early stage design in and resin evaluation strategies. You will act as a trusted technical advisor to customers across discovery process development and manufacturing environments while helping drive adoption of chromatography solutions across regional pipelines.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with Sales to support presales activities including opportunity qualification and technical positioning
- Engage customers to understand molecule characteristics development timelines and decision criteria
- Lead and support resin evaluations proof of concept studies and comparative testing
- Provide technical guidance across purification process development pilot and manufacturing stages
- Support scale up discussions and troubleshooting including column packing strategy where required
- Manage multiple customer evaluations simultaneously across a broad regional territory
- Position solutions within customer pipelines CDMO platforms and manufacturing strategies
- Deliver technical presentations seminars and customer training programs
- Share market and customer insights with Applications Product Management Marketing and R&D teams
- Support new product introduction and regional adoption initiatives
Required Experience
- Strong background in downstream purification and chromatography for biologics
- Hands on experience with resin evaluation process development or technology selection
- Customer facing technical or commercial experience as an FAS product specialist or technical sales professional
- Ability to manage multiple fast moving opportunities across a regional territory
- Comfortable working at the interface of technical depth and commercial impact
Skills and profile
- Strong understanding of biopharmaceutical and CDMO environments in Singapore and Southeast Asia
- Familiarity with the ANZ market is a strong advantage
- Confident interpreting chromatography and analytical data including HPLC ELISA and SDS PAGE
- Able to translate complex technical topics into clear customer value
- Strong communication presentation and stakeholder management skills
- Willingness to travel regularly within Southeast Asia with periodic travel to Australia and New Zealand
Education
- Bachelor degree in life sciences or engineering required
- Master degree or PhD preferred
- Minimum five years relevant industry experience in downstream purification process development MSAT or applications
