Job Description

Our client is a global provider of advanced analytical and inspection equipment, supporting customers across semiconductor, electronics, materials science, and industrial manufacturing sectors. As part of their expansion in Singapore, they are seeking a Field Service Engineer to support installation, maintenance, and technical service activities at customer sites. This role will be critical in building strong service capabilities in the region, ensuring high equipment uptime and customer satisfaction.

Position Overview

The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for on-site installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of advanced instrumentation systems. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role requiring strong technical problem-solving skills, adaptability in dynamic environments, and the ability to work independently at customer sites.

The role will involve frequent travel across region where required. The engineer will work closely with regional service teams, application specialists, and global technical support functions to ensure timely and effective resolution of technical issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, qualification, and acceptance of equipment at customer sites, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and customer requirements
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and corrective repairs to ensure optimal system performance and uptime
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and system-level issues in a timely manner
  • Provide on-site technical support and maintain strong working relationships with customers
  • Coordinate with internal teams (applications, sales, and global support) to resolve escalated technical issues
  • Prepare and maintain accurate service reports, documentation, and service logs
  • Support customer training on basic operation and maintenance of systems where required
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and efficiency

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related disciplines)
  • Prior experience in field service or equipment maintenance within semiconductor, analytical instruments, or high-precision equipment environments
  • Exposure to one or more of the following areas is advantageous: Semiconductor fab / cleanroom environment Vacuum systems, motion control, or high-voltage systems Metrology, inspection, or analytical instrumentation
  • X-ray system experience is advantageous but not mandatory candidates with transferable skills from adjacent technologies will be considered
  • Strong troubleshooting and hands-on technical skills with the ability to work independently on-site
  • Good communication skills in English proficiency other regional languages is beneficial
  • Willingness to travel regionally to support customer sites as required
  • Comfortable working in customer-facing environments, including cleanroom and industrial settings
  • Flexibility to support occasional on-call requirements, depending on customer needs
