Field Application Scientist (based in Singapore)
As a Field Application Scientist (SEA), you will engage with customers daily, delivering trainings at customer sites, and providing experimental design, data analysis, logistical, and troubleshooting support across your Southeast Asia (SEA) region. You will serve as a key contact, collaborating with in-house Technical Support to address issues and maintain customer relationships. The primary objectives of this role are to ensure rapid adoption and maximum customer success with MGI multi-omics products and technologies, including STOmics stereo-seq spatial technology, the C4 single-cell platform, the automatic mIF machine and others.
Responsibilities:
Communicate:
- Serve as the primary liaison between customers and the company.
- Keep customers informed and trained on advancements in multi-omics product and technology.
- Coordinate and conduct customer site trainings and demonstrations.
- Identify, document, and communicate customer issues, complaints, or concerns to management.
- Contribute to white papers and documentation to expand support content.
- Coordinate discussions of product offerings with potential and current customers.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations, both internally and externally, detailing key methodologies and results.
- Conduct pilot tests or KOL projects at MGI Singapore Customer Experience Cencer (CEC) as necessary.
Connect:
- Collaborate with customers as they develop their research using multi-omics products and technologies.
- Foster long-term relationships through scientific discussions and collaboration.
- Maintain positive working relationships with customers, managing expectations while exceeding their needs.
- Gather and deliver strategic customer feedback, communicating use cases beyond initial product scope to Marketing and Product Development teams.
Support:
- Troubleshoot issues related to users technical skills, biochemistry/assay design, experimental design and instruments.
- Interpret customer needs and identify the proper issue escalation pathway within MGI.
- Support field sales team at trade shows, seminars, and technical symposiums, including presentations and networking.
Minimum Requirements:
- BS/MS with approx.2-4 years of life science industry experience, or Ph.D. in the field of Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry or chemistry
- Comfortable working in a customer-facing environment.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience with histology and NGS workflows.
- Commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
- Must be self-motivated, a quick learner, dedicated to achieving excellence, and love to take on new challenges.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and systematic troubleshooting skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Outstanding presentation and training skills.
- Ability to maintain records for customer sites and provide high-level feedback to management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Field Application Scientist or in customer-facing roles in the life science industry.
- Experience in Spatial Genomics/Transcriptomics or single-cell sequencing.
- Proficiency with common molecular biology bench techniques and histological practices such as ISH, IHC/IHF.
- Solid computational skills and a deep understanding of omics data and its analysis is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of genomics or biochemistry.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team toward corporate goals.
- Fluency in both English and Mandarin.
- Study or work experience in internationally renowned universities, research institutions, or the life science industry.
