  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineering, IT, and operations to align telecom designs with plant requirements
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for fiber and network upgrade projects
  • Specify switching, routing, and firewall configurations tailored for industrial-grade environments to secure operational technology
  • Develop IP addressing schemes, VLAN segmentation, and QoS policies to optimize network performance
  • Create detailed fiber optic network architectures, layouts, routing plans, splicing diagrams, and termination details
  • Perform link budget calculations and define OTDR testing requirements to validate fiber optic performance
  • Specify cable types (single-mode/multi-mode, armored, fire-rated) compliant with IEC, IEEE, and API standards
  • Ensure all designs comply with Oil & Gas industry standards, plant safety regulations, and telecom protocols
  • Prepare comprehensive engineering documentation, design reports, and technical presentations for stakeholders
  • Produce detailed engineering drawings using AutoCAD and guide drafters to ensure technical accuracy
  • Implement SCADA automation systems with strong networking foundations to support operational technology
  • Manage fiber optic and microwave transmission networks throughout project lifecycles from FEED to commissioning and handover
  • Serve as primary technical interface with clients, vendors, and interdisciplinary teams to resolve technical queries and interface issues
  • Develop and validate integrated telecom systems suitable for hazardous Oil & Gas environments, including LAN/WAN and Hotline Systems
  • Interface with instrumentation, automation, and IT teams to align network requirements and ensure seamless integration
  • Develop technical specifications, datasheets, and material requisitions for telecom equipment procurement
  • Conduct technical reviews of vendor documents and drawings to ensure compliance and quality
  • Lead design and implementation of SCADA automation networks and architect secure industrial networking solutions (TCP/IP, switching, routing, firewalls) supporting OT requirements

Required competencies and certifications

  • Proven experience in telecom systems, fiber optics, and network infrastructure engineering for industrial projects
  • Demonstrated expertise in FEED and Detailed Engineering phases for Greenfield and Brownfield Oil & Gas projects, including onshore and offshore facilities
  • Strong industrial networking skills with equipment from Cisco, Hirschmann, Moxa, and Siemens
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for creating and reviewing 2D engineering drawings and layouts
  • In-depth knowledge of SCADA architectures, RTUs, PLCs, and industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, and IEC 61850
  • Expertise in IP networking, VLANs, and cybersecurity principles relevant to industrial control systems (ICS)
  • Expert-level knowledge of fiber optic cable plant design for both OSP and ISP environments

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Experience working on telecom projects within Oil & Gas plants
  • Familiarity with industry certification and compliance processes
  • Exposure to automation frameworks for network verification
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams
