FI BD Director (Financial Institutions Business Development Director)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven FI BD Director to lead strategic partnerships with global payment ecosystem partners across the Web3 and fintech landscape.

This role will focus on developing and managing partnerships with local payment companies, acquirers, PSPs, banks, BIN sponsors, on/off-ramp providers, payment institutions, card issuers, and other financial infrastructure partners globally to support the company's CAAS (Card-as-a-Service), stablecoin payment, and digital payment product lines.

The ideal candidate should possess strong industry networks, deep understanding of global payment infrastructure and financial partnerships, and the ability to drive complex commercial partnerships from sourcing to execution.

Key Responsibilities

Lead global business development and partnership strategy with:

  • Local payment companies
  • Acquiring partners
  • PSPs (Payment Service Providers)
  • Banking partners
  • BIN sponsors
  • On-ramp / Off-ramp providers
  • Payment institutions
  • Card issuers and financial infrastructure partners
  • Stablecoin and digital asset ecosystem partners

Drive strategic partnerships to support:

  • CAAS (Card-as-a-Service)
  • Stablecoin payment solutions
  • Crypto payment infrastructure
  • Cross-border payment capabilities
  • Fiat settlement and treasury solutions

Identify and develop new partnership opportunities across global markets, particularly in APAC and other strategic regions

Manage the full partnership lifecycle:

  • Sourcing
  • Commercial negotiation
  • Due diligence
  • Contract discussion
  • Go-live coordination
  • Ongoing relationship management

Collaborate closely with internal teams including:

  • Product Compliance Legal Operations Treasury Risk Business teams

Support expansion of global payment capabilities, banking coverage, acquiring capabilities, card issuance capabilities, and stablecoin settlement networks

  • Monitor industry trends, competitor landscape, regulatory developments, and emerging partnership opportunities
  • Represent the company in industry events, conferences, and strategic partner discussions

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in FI partnerships, payment partnerships, acquiring partnerships, fintech, banking BD, or Web3 infrastructure business development
  • Strong network with banks, acquirers, PSPs, BIN sponsors, payment institutions, issuers, or crypto payment ecosystem partners

Familiarity with:

  • Payment acquiring ecosystem
  • Card issuing ecosystem
  • Payment rails
  • Stablecoin infrastructure
  • Crypto payment flows
  • On/off-ramp infrastructure
  • Cross-border payment operations

Strong commercial negotiation and stakeholder management skills

Ability to manage complex cross-functional projects in fast-paced environments

Experience in fintech, payment, Web3, digital assets, or crypto-related industries is highly preferred

Entrepreneurial mindset with strong ownership and execution capability

Fluent in English; Mandarin is a plus

Preferred Background

  • Experience working with global fintechs, payment companies, acquirers, PSPs, card issuers, or digital asset infrastructure providers
  • Existing network with Visa/Mastercard ecosystem participants, sponsor banks, EMI/PI institutions, acquirers, or crypto payment providers
  • Prior exposure to CAAS, embedded finance, stablecoin settlement, or crypto payment products is highly advantageous
