Job Description

An FDC Applications Engineer within the Factory Controls division will support advanced applications related to the company's Fault Detection and Classification (FDC) solutions. The role provides technical support to field teams and customers, ensuring effective deployment, integration, and ongoing support of the company's FDC platform.

The organization supports customers across semiconductor fabrication, vacuum technology, and other critical industrial applications by delivering hardware, software, and data-driven solutions that enhance process stability, yield, and operational efficiency.

The Job

  • Demo, deploy, upgrade, and provide ongoing support for FabGuard® software across a broad range of semiconductor process equipment.
  • Create FabGuard® recipes and perform data analysis of tool-based sensors, FabGuard® sensors, and customer sensors for Fault Detection and Classification (FDC) applications.
  • Provide written and verbal feedback to customers on application-related activities, including process troubleshooting, recipe development, and installation procedures.
  • Identify unexplored process areas where FabGuard® software and sensor solutions can add value to customers.
  • Provide on-site training on the company's products, including FabGuard® FDC software, hardware usage, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Communicate the full range of FabGuard® capabilities to prospective customers and stakeholders.
  • Serve as the Site Lead for existing FabGuard® clients, acting as the primary point of contact for clients within the assigned region.
  • Own and manage FabGuard® support tickets raised by clients within the assigned region.
  • Develop knowledge of and provide support for other FabGuard® offerings, including FabControl, FabRecover, SmartFDC, and Analysis Server.
  • Approximately 30% of international travel across APAC sites and key customer locations, supporting FabGuard® demonstrations and deployments, as well as on-the-job training (OJT).
  • Reports to the IMS Factory Controls Team Lead.
  • Works closely with Business Unit leadership and global Operational Excellence teams.
  • May occasionally be required to work outside standard hours to collaborate with the US-based FabGuard® Development team as needed.

The Talent

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 2-5+ years of work experience in the semiconductor manufacturing industry.
  • Solid understanding of semiconductor processes and OEM equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to adapt to various field situations and foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to solve complex technical problems.

Demonstrated Leadership

  • Experience in software/operations delivery and organizational change management.
  • Ability to coach and support other Applications Engineers, including providing technical guidance and escalation support.
  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven stakeholder management experience across customers, business units, and site leadership.

Other Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic SQL is required.
  • Familiarity with C++ is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Professional fluency in English and Mandarin is required to support bilingual business operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to confidently present and deliver information to audiences ranging from 20 to 100 attendees.
  • High availability to provide immediate remote or on-site support for urgent customer escalations.
  • Candidates must be comfortable and physically able to wear a full cleanroom suit (bunny suit) for the entire duration of their work.
