Facilities Officer

Brief Summary

We are looking for a proactive and reliable Facilities Officer to support essential operations in a high-containment research environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the technical operations and maintenance of facilities that support national biomedical preparedness.

Responsibilities

• Manage the receiving, storage, and issuing of equipment, facility-related materials, and consumables, ensuring accurate inventory records using a digital management system or manual logs. Conduct daily facility inspections, troubleshoot issues, and perform first-level fault diagnosis and reporting, monitoring key readings such as temperature and pressure from engineering systems. Assist in implementing safety controls during maintenance and contractor works, including managing work permits and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Maintain operations readiness by assisting in the setup and testing of new equipment and maintaining facility-related logs, checklists, and service reports. Perform minor repairs and workspace setups, respond to facility fault reports, and assist with general housekeeping and waste management activities.

Requirements

• Education: Nitec (National ITE Certificate), Higher Nitec, or Technical Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Facilities, or Building Services Engineering. At least 2 years of relevant experience in technical facility operations. Preferred experience in inventory or store management. Understanding of basic engineering principles related to building services and troubleshooting. Proficient in using basic inventory management software and tools. Strong attention to safety, organization, and detail, alongside good communication and coordination skills.
