My client is in the banking sector and is seeking a seasoned technology leader with deep expertise in data platforms and data architecture to drive the strategic build-out of a scalable, modern data ecosystem across region.
Responsibilities
- This role requires strong engineering leadership, extensive experience architecting enterprise-grade data platforms, and the ability to shape and execute a long-term data and technology vision in a complex financial services environment.
- This role will lead the regional strategy, engineering, and enhancement of the data platform architecture and will build a high-performing engineering organization and partner closely with senior data and technology leaders to execute a multi-year transformation. A key focus will be advancing data governance, analytics, AI adoption, and global data-sharing through common standards, modern platforms, and a data mesh approach.
- Oversee the creation and evolution of a large-scale, modern data technology landscape, ensuring the region operates on a foundation of high-quality, well-governed and analytics-ready data.
- Work closely with senior leaders across business and technology functions, both locally and globally, to shape the roadmap for upcoming data capabilities that support long-term strategic goals.
- Collaborate with teams focused on data management, advanced analytics and innovation to enable initiatives related to governance, reporting and AI adoption.
- Champion the shift towards cloud-based solutions, iterative delivery models and DevOps practices to improve speed, flexibility and overall engineering effectiveness.
- Design and roll out a harmonised data landscape for the region, incorporating shared standards, robust controls, clear data lineage and API-enabled data access.
Qualifications
- More than 12 years of senior leadership experience overseeing data engineering functions within large and highly regulated financial organisations.
- Demonstrated success in designing and deploying enterprise-grade data ecosystems that are resilient, scalable and aligned with governance, analytics, reporting and regulatory compliance needs.
- Extensive background managing diverse teams across multiple countries, including the establishment and leadership of offshore engineering or support hubs.
- Proven capability in handling substantial technology budgets, with a strong focus on cost efficiency and optimising both development and operational expenditure for complex data platforms.
- Comprehensive hands-on knowledge of modern data technologies, spanning ingestion, processing, storage, metadata management, data quality, analytics and distribution layers.
- Expert-level familiarity with cloud environments, agile methodologies, DevOps practices and API-driven architectures.
- Strong command of data governance principles and regulatory standards, including regional data privacy requirements and risk frameworks commonly applied within banking environments.
