Job Purpose
To drive flow banking opportunities with GFIG APAC clients and strengthen SMBC's market position as one of the key go-to partner banks in Asia. The role focuses on leading strategic initiatives, deepening institutional relationships, and delivering innovative cross-border solutions to support sustainable growth.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead GFIG APAC's Flow Banking initiative and establish strategies to grow ancillary business from institutional investor clients across the region.
- Drive flow banking opportunities with GFIG APAC clients and strengthen SMBC's market position as a key go-to partner bank in Asia.
- Act as Global Relationship Manager for Banks, Central Banks, and Bank-backed NBFIs.
- Formulate new relationship initiatives, build partnerships, and originate transactions across the client segment.
- Collaborate with product partners to align solutions with client needs and recommend new products where appropriate.
- Promote financial institution business across Transaction Banking, Loan & Trade Finance, Global Markets, ECA & DFI financing, and deposit-taking.
- Lead cross-functional teams to execute deals and ensure compliance with credit, operational, and regulatory risk policies.
- Monitor market conditions, regulatory changes, and country risk to inform client proposals.
- Conduct credit analysis and risk assessments for structuring products such as syndicated loans, trade finance, and global markets solutions.
Job Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, or an equivalent discipline.
- At least 10 years of banking experience, with a minimum of 6 years managing Financial Institutions (Banks and Non-Banks) or large corporates, preferably within Singapore and across APAC markets.
- Proven experience in managing relationships with Banks and Bank-backed NBFIs (including finance companies, funds, broker-dealers, and insurance firms) across multiple jurisdictions in Asia-Pacific.
- Strong capability to manage client relationships independently, combined with working knowledge of loan syndications, transaction banking, global markets, and liability management.
- Highly conversant with global market products familiarity with long-term derivatives, swaps, debt capital markets instruments, and structured deposit products is desirable.
- Deep understanding of regulatory and compliance environments in key APAC markets, with a good grasp of HQLA and NSFR concepts to curate products that improve liquidity ratios.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct credit analysis and risk assessment for structuring complex financial solutions such as syndicated loans, trade finance, and global markets transactions.
- A proactive, collaborative team player with experience operating in large, complex matrix organizations and leading cross-functional initiatives.
