Job Description

The Credit Review Function Head is a newly structured team responsible for independent credit reviews across Group-wide Wholesale Banking (GWB) accounts. This role ensures robust governance, compliance, and risk management across credit portfolios.

Governance, Compliance & Policy Adherence

  • Understand and identify key portfolio/ sectoral risk in markets for review selection/ focus
  • Ensure credit granting and write-offs comply with laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Validate that loan approvals follow correct authority and are timely.
  • Ascertain that credit exposure to counterparty groups for regulatory and policy compliance.

Credit Structure & Risk Assessment

  • Assess alignment of credit structure with purpose and repayment sources.
  • Evaluate borrower's repayment ability and financial condition.
  • Ensure internal ratings are model-aligned and refreshed annually.
  • Assess early warning signals and escalate vulnerable accounts.

Collateral & Documentation

  • Verify completeness and enforceability of loan documentation.
  • Assess collateral valuation complies with policy and reflects accurate market conditions.

Post-Approval Monitoring

  • Assess compliance with approved terms and conditions.
  • Ensure accurate data capture and system integrity.
  • Flag deteriorating accounts for priority review.

Operating Rhythm

  • Lead monthly thematic and individual account reviews.
  • Coordinate with guest reviewers and relevant units for data verification and resolution.
  • Report findings monthly to division heads and quarterly to governance committees (GCC & BRMC).

Job Requirements

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM, CPA) are an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in credit risk management, portfolio review, credit review or related roles within banking or financial services
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements
  • Strong product knowledge, eg in Lending & Trade Finance

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills

  • Ability to identify [early warnings and vulnerable accounts within a portfolio]
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with all levels
