Role Overview
The Commercial Operations Executive is primarily responsible for ensuring accurate reconciliation and settlement of the biomass power plant's operational and commercial flows, including feedstock supply, electricity generation, renewable energy certificates, and contractual energy agreements. The role safeguards revenue integrity by ensuring all operational data and financial settlements are accurate, traceable, and aligned with contractual and regulatory requirements. The position works closely with Operations, Finance, Commercial, and IT teams to maintain reliable reporting and support compliance with relevant market frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Reconcile biomass feedstock deliveries, maintain inventory balances, and investigate discrepancies with suppliers and operations teams.
- Validate electricity generation and export data, confirm billable energy quantities, and prepare monthly settlement reports.
- Administer renewable energy certificates (e.g., I-REC), including tracking eligible generation, preparing issuance documentation, and maintaining registry records.
- Perform settlement calculations for energy contracts such as virtual Power Purchase Agreements (vPPA) or Contract-for-Difference (CfD) arrangements.
- Monitor plant performance metrics such as fuel-to-energy conversion efficiency and escalate abnormal variances.
- Maintain accurate operational and commercial data within site management systems and prepare structured commercial performance reports.
- Support data governance, reporting improvements, and coordination across operations, finance, and commercial stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in business, Engineering, Finance, Energy Management, Data Analytics, or related disciplines
- 1 - 3 years of experience in power generation, utilities, renewable energy, or commercial settlement roles.
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with advanced Excel proficiency.
- Working understanding of industrial data systems and energy accounting.
Preferred
- Experience in renewable energy projects (e.g., biomass, solar, waste-to-energy).
- Familiarity with renewable certificate schemes such as I-REC.
- Exposure to vPPA or Contract-for-Difference (CfD) contract structures.
- Experience interacting with energy market or regulatory settlement frameworks.
