As we prepare for our opening in Q1 2026, Varel Singapore is seeking a visionary and experienced Executive Chef to lead the culinary team and establish a distinctive dining experience that reflects our brand identity. This role is instrumental in shaping the hotel's culinary direction, overseeing kitchen operations, and delivering exceptional food quality and innovation from pre-opening through daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of all culinary concepts, menus, and offerings in alignment with Varel Singapore's vision and brand standards.
- Oversee all kitchen operations, ensuring consistency, quality, and presentation across all outlets.
- Recruit, train, and develop the culinary team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Establish kitchen policies, standard operating procedures, and workflows to ensure efficient and safe operations.
- Manage food cost, inventory, procurement, and supplier relationships to maintain budgetary goals without compromising quality.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards in accordance with local regulations.
- Collaborate with the Food & Beverage team to design innovative dining experiences and seasonal promotions.
- Drive creativity and innovation in menu development while staying attuned to market trends and guest preferences.
- Monitor guest feedback and continuously refine culinary offerings to enhance the overall dining experience.
- Uphold Varel Singapore, Marriott, and Tribute Portfolio brand values while maintaining professionalism and delivering exceptional guest satisfaction.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an Executive Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a reputable hotel or high-end restaurant, preferably in a pre-opening environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and develop a diverse culinary team.
- In-depth knowledge of international cuisines, modern culinary techniques, and food trends.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost control, and inventory management.
- Comprehensive understanding of food safety standards and local health regulations.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to working across departments.
