Role Purpose
Provide strategic governance, oversight, and sector-specific expertise to guide the organization's global expansion, investment strategy, and sustainable growth in emerging markets and technology ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Advise on global market entry, trade policy, and cross-border investment opportunities.
- Shape VC/PE portfolio strategy, including capital allocation, risk assessment, and exit planning
Governance & Over sight
- Ensure compliance with international regulations (e.g., ESG, trade sanctions, FDI r
- ules).Monitor financial performance and investment KPIs across portfolios.
Sector Expertise
- IT&D: Leverage knowledge of trade finance, development agencies (e.g., IFC, USAID), and emerging-market dynamics.
- VC/PE: Advise on deal sourcing, due diligence, value creation, and fund structuring.
Network Activation
- Open doors to global partners, institutional investors, governments, and high-potential ventures
- Support fundraising for trade-focused or impact-driven investment vehicles
Risk Management
- Mitigate geopolitical, currency, and regulatory risks in international operations
- Stress-test investment theses against market volatility
Qualifications
- 10+ years in senior IT&D roles (e.g., trade finance, economic development) and/or VC/PE leadership (Partner/Principal level)
- Proven track record in scaling businesses/funds across emerging markets
- Deep networks with institutional LPs, governments, DFIs, and global corporates.
- Expertise in blended finance, impact investing, or technology commercialization is a plus
Board
- Commitment46 meetings/year (virtual/in-person) + ad hoc advisory sessions.
- 58 hours/month (including prep, mentoring, and stakeholder
- engagement).Term: 3 years (renewable)
Compensation
- Equity/options + cash stipend (commensurate with
- experience).For nonprofits/development entities: Typically unpaid; expenses covered.
