Overview
Our client is a Singapore-based investment management firm specializing in Japanese equities through two complementary strategies, with additional exposure to other geographic markets. They operate fundamental investment approaches with a focus on mid to small cap names and maintain diversified portfolios across multiple sectors. Their trading desk plays a critical role in executing investment strategies efficiently to ensure timely executions while minimizing market impact.
They are seeking a motivated individual with Japanese language capabilities and genuine interest in financial markets to join their trading desk as a Buy-Side Execution Trader. This role provides comprehensive training and mentorship from experienced professionals, offering a clear pathway to develop expertise in trade execution while working directly with portfolio managers to support their investment strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with Portfolio managers, Brokers, Fellow Traders to ensure timely and accurate execution of equity/futures/custom basket trades across markets for our strategies.
- Monitor risk limits to ensure that orders are executed within the stipulated limits.
- Ensure compliance with investment guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor intraday market conditions and adjust execution strategies accordingly.
- Process and manage the return and borrowing of shares related to short selling.
- Assist in the application of IPOs/POs and management of certain Corporate Actions.
- Perform periodic reconciliation of various data sources on both OEMS and PMS.
- Prepare and provide monthly market analysis to Investors.
- Participate in ad hoc projects to improve/ implement automation into our processes.
- Provide ad hoc assistance in Risk Management/ Marketing related tasks.
Requirements
- Experience: 1 to 3 years in financial markets (trading, operations, or related field) OR recent graduate with strong academic background in finance/economics. Mid-career candidates from other industries with relevant analytical skills, attention to detail, and financial acumen will also be considered.
- Language: Business-level Japanese proficiency preferred. Candidates with JLPT N3/N4 certification and demonstrated commitment to improving their Japanese language skills will also be considered.
- Personal Qualities: Collaborative team player with strong multitasking abilities and resilience to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel is required. Experience with VBA, Python, and/or SQL will be considered favorably as value-add skills.
