Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic, highly organised and commercially minded Events Manager to oversee and grow the events business for Marguerite and Hortus. Based within Singapore's iconic Gardens by the Bay, the Events Manager will be responsible for managing the entire event journey - from generating new business opportunities and responding to enquiries to planning, coordinating and executing exceptional events.

The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality, has strong sales and relationship management skills, and is able to deliver memorable guest experiences while achieving revenue and profitability targets.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Drive and grow private dining, corporate, wedding and special event revenue for Marguerite and Hortus.
  • Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities, partnerships and client relationships.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to event enquiries and prepare tailored proposals and quotations.
  • Conduct site inspections and client meetings to showcase the venues and event offerings.
  • Negotiate event packages, pricing and terms within approved guidelines.
  • Achieve agreed sales targets and contribute to the overall profitability of the events business.
  • Maintain an active pipeline of prospective and confirmed events and provide regular sales forecasts and reports.

Event Planning & Coordination

  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients throughout the entire event planning process.
  • Understand clients requirements and develop customised event proposals and experiences.
  • Coordinate closely with the General Manager, Restaurant Managers, Chefs and Operations teams to ensure all event requirements are communicated and executed seamlessly.
  • Prepare detailed event orders, function sheets, run sheets and other operational documents.
  • Coordinate menus, beverage selections, seating arrangements, décor, entertainment, AV requirements and other event details where applicable.
  • Conduct pre-event briefings with the relevant teams to ensure smooth execution.

Event Operations & Guest Experience

  • Oversee the execution of events and be present on-site when required.
  • Ensure events are delivered according to the agreed specifications, timelines and service standards.
  • Anticipate and resolve operational or client issues promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain the highest standards of hospitality and guest experience before, during and after each event.
  • Conduct post-event follow-ups with clients and gather feedback to identify opportunities for improvement and repeat business.

Administration & Reporting

  • Ensure all event details, contracts, deposits, invoices and documentation are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
  • Monitor event revenue, costs and profitability.
  • Work closely with the Finance and Operations teams to ensure accurate billing and timely collection of payments.
  • Maintain an organised database of clients, event enquiries and business opportunities.
  • Prepare regular reports on sales performance, upcoming events and business development activities.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in events, sales, hospitality or restaurant operations.
  • Experience managing private dining, corporate events, weddings or luxury hospitality events will be advantageous.
  • Strong sales, negotiation and business development skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.
  • A proactive, resourceful and solutions-oriented approach.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of event profitability.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, depending on event requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and event or CRM systems will be advantageous.
