How will you make a difference to PMI

PMI is looking for an Event Planner I that supports the planning and execution of meetings and events as part of PMI's Global Events and Meetings (GEM) Team. This role provides hands-on exposure to the full event lifecycle, assisting with logistical coordination and operational support for a variety of meetings and events. Ideal for a motivated self-starter, the position offers an opportunity to develop foundational event planning skills, take initiative, and progressively support more complex events as experience and capability grow within the GEM Team.

What you'll bring to the role

  • Support the planning and execution of meetings and events from concept through completion, including assisting with post-event summaries.
  • Independently plan and execute assigned small- to medium-scale meetings end to end, while supporting larger or more complex events led by senior planners.
  • Administer event registration and provide customer service support before, during, and after events.
  • Assist event planners and business owners with event plans, timelines, and basic budget tracking.
  • Follow established budget and policy guidelines.
  • Coordinate with venues, audiovisual providers, decorators, and other vendors under the guidance of lead planners.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support event delivery.
  • Assist with onsite execution, focusing on customer satisfaction and attendee experience.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and help resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate a self-starter mindset by taking initiative, anticipating needs, and progressing work forward with appropriate guidance.

Role Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Industry certifications such as CMP, CMM, PMP, or CAPM are a plus.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience planning events ranging from 25 to 1,000+ attendees.
  • Experience assisting with domestic and/or international meetings and events.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Monday.com, Smartsheet is a plus
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Proficiency in the business language for PMI (English)
  • Travel - Up to 20% domestically and internationally.
