Internship Program Overview:
Our Interns & Co-ops are our entry-level talent pipeline for GF across the globe. Our goal is to provide students with a meaningful work experience that will equip them with the skills to embark on a career in the fast-paced and growing semiconductor industry after graduation. As an intern at GF, you'll experience one-on-one mentorship, work assignments that prioritize your growth and potential, professional development opportunities, and the chance to network with executives.
Summary of Role:
This internship provides an opportunity to learn about electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection devices and their development through hands-on work assignments. In integrated circuit (IC) products, each pin typically requires an ESD protection device or circuit to help protect the product from ESD-related damage. Because IC products can contain anywhere from tens to thousands of pins, the performance, robustness, and area efficiency of each ESD device or circuit are critical to product reliability and business competitiveness.
The intern will support the development of ESD and I/O device design guidance for IC product design teams, helping ensure effective protection strategies are considered during product development.
Essential Responsibilities include:
Conduct device design experiments based on a general understanding of semiconductor devices and processes, with mentor guidance to support learning in semiconductor device concepts and experimental methods.
Assist with ESD device design for high-voltage applications, including 12-85V and 100/200V devices, across 180nm to 28nm CMOS/BCD technologies.
Perform TCAD simulations for ESD devices after receiving training and guidance from the mentor.
Support customer ESD inquiries by preparing relevant technical data, analysis, and reports.
Assist the mentor in developing latch-up prevention rules by preparing technical reports based on experimental results.
Other Responsibilities:
Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
Required Qualifications:
Education - Actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering or related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship.
Must be in good academic standing.
Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior related internship or co-op experience
Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.
Project management skills, i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter the ability to navigate ambiguity.
Strong interest in leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support effective decision-making.
