Your Opportunity
Reporting to the ESAP Construction & Technical Director, the ESAP Construction Project Manager oversees the successful delivery of hospitality construction projects from tender to delivery, ensuring adherence to Club Meds quality standards, budget requirements, and timelines.
Responsibilities
Projects typically involve new resorts or extensive renovation/expansion of existing properties, primarily in tropical coastal environments.
Project Initiation and Tender Management:
- Conduct feasibility studies, site expertise assessments, and potential Greenfield analyses.
- Establish detailed project briefs, collaborating closely with all Club Meds departments
- Identify local technical solutions and contractors, ensuring compliance with Club Med standards.
Project Planning and Design Coordination:
- Lead the selection and coordination of multidisciplinary teams
- Ensure architectural, technical, and sustainability specifications align with Club Meds operational standards and local environmental requirements.
- Oversee development of preliminary studies, schematic designs, and detailed design
Budget and Schedule Management:
- Develop, monitor, and manage comprehensive project budgets (ranging from 20M to 120M).
- Implement effective scheduling tools and maintain rigorous control over project timelines, regularly adjusting plans through 'Value Engineering' to optimize cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.
Project Execution:
- Oversee tender processes, negotiation, and management of contractors and suppliers, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
- Maintain rigorous control over project quality, cost, and schedule during the construction phase.
- Proactively manage risks and changes, ensuring alignment with initial project goals.
Stakeholder and External Relations:
- Act as primary liaison with local authorities, investors, partners, and internal Club Med departments.
- Represent Club Med professionally, fostering positive relationships and effective communication channels with all stakeholders.
Commissioning and Delivery:
- Coordinate pre-opening activities with operations teams to ensure smooth handover.
- Oversee commissioning processes, ensuring all technical standards and operational requirements are met.
- Ensure timely and thorough rectification of defects and manage the closure of project contracts.
Technical and Sustainability Innovation:
- Identify innovative and sustainable technical solutions appropriate for tropical environments.
- Maintain continuous benchmarking with industry trends and competitors,
Team Leadership and Development:
- Provide technical guidance, leadership, and support to Resort Technical Managers.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related technical fields
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in international construction project management, preferably within the hospitality sector and tropical climates.
- Proactive and results-oriented
- Flexible and adaptable to various cultural and operational environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to inspire and motivate diverse project teams
- Frequent and extensive travel to remote construction sites, other Club Meds offices / resorts as well as to identified sites for future / potential development will be required for this position
