Overview: We are hiring a Stock Connect Market Settlements Associate. This role focuses on overseeing the clearing, pre-matching, and settlement of equity executions for global clients trading in Hong Kong and Stock Connect (Shanghai/Shenzhen) markets. The position carries significant regulatory responsibility related to the safeguarding of client assets, strong internal control adherence, and accurate reconciliation to uphold high custodial services standards.

Key Responsibilities
Settlement Operations
- Perform cross-border settlement of Hong Kong and Stock Connect equity trades.
- Check booking and settlement accuracy across systems.
- Follow up on outstanding settlement items and resolve breaks promptly.
Reconciliations & Controls
- Perform stock and cash reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and ensuring timely resolution.
- Uphold stringent internal controls and comply with regulatory responsibilities regarding client asset protection.
Trade Support & Exceptions Handling
- Initiate stock borrows for failed trades and monitors stock return activities.
- Monitor settlement flows via CCP terminals to prevent buy-ins.
- Prepare stamp duty payments and arrange margin payments as required.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise with internal teams, external clients, and local custodians to ensure smooth settlement processes.
- Manage funding for trade settlements and support ETF creation/redemption workflows.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in Banking or Financial Services, ideally supporting settlement or custody operations.
- Strong understanding of financial markets and front-to-back trade lifecycle, including custody services.
- Highly quantitative, analytical, and proactive; able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong control mindset with an understanding of operational risk and error impact.
- Attention to detail and ability to process tasks with high accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Business-level English (written & spoken).
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
