We are hiring on behalf of a client:
Equipment Engineer – Precision Mechatronics
We are looking for an experienced Equipment Engineer to support the development, integration, and continuous improvement of precision engineering systems used within a manufacturing environment.
This is a highly hands-on position suited to an engineer who enjoys taking ownership of equipment from design and build through to commissioning, optimisation, and troubleshooting. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and external partners to deliver reliable equipment capable of meeting demanding production and performance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical fixtures, tooling, and precision mechatronic assemblies for manufacturing applications.
- Create CAD designs and engineering solutions with consideration for performance, manufacturability, reliability, and ease of maintenance.
- Convert technical and operational requirements into practical equipment and system designs.
- Support equipment assembly, installation, commissioning, calibration, and performance optimisation.
- Evaluate equipment performance through testing and data analysis, identifying opportunities to improve accuracy, yield, stability, and equipment availability.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and system-level equipment issues using structured troubleshooting and root cause analysis methodologies.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to address recurring equipment failures and improve long-term reliability.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation including engineering drawings, specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and related production documentation.
- Coordinate with internal engineering teams, manufacturing stakeholders, suppliers, and equipment vendors to ensure projects are completed according to technical and delivery requirements.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Approximately 2–5 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within a manufacturing or production equipment environment.
- A Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline would be advantageous.
- Hands-on experience involving the assembly, testing, calibration, commissioning, or troubleshooting of complex mechatronic or opto-mechatronic equipment would be highly regarded.
Technical Competencies
- Practical experience with 3D CAD tools, preferably Siemens NX or similar platforms.
- Good understanding of precision mechanical design, dimensional tolerancing, and mechanical integration.
- Exposure to automation systems and equipment/system design.
- Programming or controls experience involving technologies such as PLC, MCU, Python, or LabVIEW.
- Working knowledge of electrical and electronic components including sensors, actuators, cabling, and wiring.
- Experience with motion-system calibration, precision alignment, or optical-system alignment would be advantageous.
