Role DescriptionAn Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist ensures workplace safety, environmental compliance, and regulatory adherence across organizational operations. This role involves implementing safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a culture of safety to prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental hazards. The EHS Specialist collaborates with management, employees, and regulatory authorities to maintain safe and sustainable practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs
- Conduct regular workplace inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits
- Monitor compliance with environmental regulations, occupational safety standards, and industry best practices
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and recommend corrective actions
- Deliver safety training and awareness programs for employees
- Track and report EHS metrics, trends, and performance to management
- Collaborate with operations, HR, and facilities teams to ensure safety and environmental standards are met
- Assist in emergency preparedness and response planning
- Promote sustainable practices and environmental initiatives within the organization
- Stay updated on changes in EHS laws, regulations, and standards
QualificationsEducation & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field
- Experience in environmental health, safety management, or occupational health roles
- Knowledge of EHS regulations and compliance standards (OSHA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, local laws)
Technical Skills
- Ability to conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations
- Knowledge of EHS management systems and reporting tools
- Familiarity with environmental compliance, waste management, and hazardous materials handling
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting of EHS metrics
