Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

To ensure workplace health, safety, and environmental compliance across Asia-Pacific operations, with primary responsibility for Singapore facilities and oversight of China & Korea facilities. This role develops, implements, and harmonizes regional EHS programs and policies, ensuring compliance with local regulations, mitigating risks, and fostering a culture of safety and sustainability across diverse jurisdictions.

JOB EXPECTATIONS

Regulatory Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and programs that meet national standards and other regulatory mandates.
  • Monitor regulatory changes, maintain documentation, and represent site practices during inspections and audits.
  • Oversee environmental permitting, reporting obligations, and compliance with hazardous materials, waste management, water discharge, and air emissions requirements.

Safety & Industrial Hygiene

. Lead workplace safety initiatives, hazard recognition, and corrective actions to prevent incidents.

. Conduct industrial hygiene monitoring (air, chemical, noise, ergonomics) and implement exposure control measures.

. Manage incident reporting systems, investigations, and corrective/preventive actions to drive continuous improvement.

. Implement company industrial hygiene programs by conducting routine air monitoring and chemical detection sampling and collecting air and solid environmental samples per required standards and regulations. Also, by documenting and managing EHS data/results for compliance reasons.

. Manage and implement company's hazardous and non-hazardous waste management program by overseeing all waste activities, storage areas, employee training, and recordkeeping associated with disposal of wastes.

Training & Engagement

  • Design and deliver EHS training programs, including hazardous waste operations and emergency response.
  • Build workforce safety engagement and accountability through coaching, committees, and reinforcement of safe work practices.
  • Develop and mentor EHS personnel to strengthen organizational capability.
  • Enhance EHS company work procedures by providing innovative solutions for corrective actions and by creating work process assessments that continually improve worker safety.

Emergency Preparedness & Risk Management

  • Lead emergency response planning and coordination with local agencies.
  • Ensure readiness for audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Track and report safety and environmental performance indicators.
  • Identify compliance gaps, implement corrective measures, and embed process improvements.
  • Provide innovative solutions to enhance workplace safety and environmental stewardship.

Flexible / Location-Specific Responsibilities

  • Adapt EHS programs to meet country-specific regulatory requirements across Asia (e.g., Singapore Ministry of Manpower, National Environment Agency China Ministry of Ecology and Environment).
  • Provide oversight and coordination for regional EHS programs and policies, ensuring alignment across Singapore HQ, China operations, and other Asia-Pacific sites.
  • Address site-specific environmental permits, hazardous goods training, or emergency response obligations.
  • Incorporate cultural, language, or logistical considerations unique to each Asia-Pacific location.
  • Support corporate sustainability initiatives aligned with regional frameworks such as Singapore Green Plan 2030, China's dual-carbon goals, and other Asia-Pacific environmental strategies.


Education

Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, earth or life science, industrial hygiene, toxicology, or a related field - or the equivalent

Certifications

Workplace Safety & Health certification, or equivalent regional qualifications. The incumbent should have chemical handling/communication competency/HAZMAT certifications, and ISO 45001 awareness.

Equipment Skills

Experience using industrial hygiene equipment and monitoring & multi-media sampling equipment.

Experience with PIV (power industrial vehicles) used in manufacturing/shipping operations.

Job Experience

5+ years of experience working in EH&S consulting, chemical manufacturing, or industrial environment, with a knowledge of industrial processes, and their impacts to employee safety and the environment or equivalent combination of education and experience

3+ years of managerial experience

Understanding of chemical manufacturing processes, R&D environments, supply chain operations, and warehouse safety requirements, and the relevant emergency responses.

Personal Qualities

Able to complete assigned tasks under minimal supervision.

Ability to work independently, but a strong effective team player mentality is a must.

Must be able to adapt quickly to changing scenarios.

Other

Good working knowledge of local/ region regulatory compliances and national standards such as ISO 14001/ OSHAS 18001, bizSAFE (Singapore).
