Job Description

Summary

This role is responsible for leading the development, structuring, negotiation, and execution of strategic enterprise partnerships across the financial services sector to drive commercial growth and long-term business value. You will identify and develop new partnership opportunities, expand existing relationships, create integrated commercial propositions, and lead negotiations for sponsorships, marketing programs, co-branded products, and other strategic initiatives.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop business cases, commercial models, revenue projections, governance frameworks, and implementation plans, ensuring partnerships align with broader business objectives and deliver enterprise-wide value. Working closely with internal stakeholders across multiple business functions, you will facilitate alignment, drive decision-making, and support the successful launch and ongoing growth of partnership programs.

You will also serve as a key relationship manager for senior external stakeholders, building strategic partnerships, presenting recommendations to leadership, and supporting the transition of newly launched initiatives into long-term account management and optimization. Additionally, you will monitor partnership performance, maintain pipeline reporting, identify expansion opportunities, and assess emerging industry trends to develop innovative commercial solutions and new sources of growth.

The ideal candidate combines strong business development, strategic partnership, and commercial negotiation expertise with excellent stakeholder management, analytical, and communication skills. You should be comfortable managing complex cross-functional initiatives, influencing senior stakeholders, developing commercial strategies, and balancing multiple priorities across diverse markets and business groups.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new co-branded card opportunities, customer value propositions, and market expansion initiatives with strategic financial services partners.
  • Structure and negotiate cardholder value propositions, programme launches, and strategic enhancements that extend partnerships into new markets, products, and business areas.
  • Partner with account management teams to transition newly launched programmes into ongoing account management, governance, and optimisation.

Commercial Strategy and Deal Structuring

  • Structure enterprise-wide sponsorships, marketing programmes, customer propositions, and commercial partnerships.
  • Lead commercial negotiations for new agreements, programme extensions, and expansions of existing partnerships.
  • Develop commercial models, fee structures, rights packages, and marketing commitments.
  • Prepare business cases, revenue projections, financial models, and cost-benefit analyses to support investment decisions.
  • Collaborate with legal, finance, tax, and business teams to progress opportunities from proposal through execution.
  • Ensure partnership propositions balance partner objectives with commercial, operational, and customer experience requirements.

Cross-Functional Partnership Development

  • Lead planning for new enterprise partnership initiatives across multiple business units.
  • Align stakeholders on commercial objectives, benefits, responsibilities, and implementation requirements.
  • Facilitate internal decision-making and resolve stakeholder challenges where required.
  • Ensure partnership structures maximise enterprise-wide value rather than operating as isolated initiatives.
  • Establish governance frameworks and implementation plans before agreements are executed.

Partner and Executive Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the strategic commercial lead for new financial services partnership opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with senior partner stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Develop and present strategic proposals to executive leadership and external partners.
  • Collaborate closely with senior business leaders and cross-functional teams to align partnership priorities and objectives.
  • Maintain strong coordination with internal stakeholders to ensure a consistent partner experience.

Partnership Transition and Implementation

  • Develop implementation frameworks for newly executed partnership programmes.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to confirm roles, timelines, deliverables, and governance requirements.
  • Transition newly signed partnerships into ongoing account stewardship and management.
  • Provide commercial support during programme launch and initial implementation.
  • Retain ownership of expansion opportunities and new commercial negotiations following programme launch.

Innovation and Market Development

  • Develop innovative partnership models, customer propositions, and integrated commercial solutions.
  • Identify emerging trends in payments, financial services, loyalty, co-branded cards, digital commerce, and customer engagement.
  • Assess opportunities for market expansion and future business growth.
  • Benchmark partnership models and recommend new sources of enterprise value.

Performance and Reporting

  • Monitor the value, progression, and probability of the partnership pipeline.
  • Track commercial opportunities against revenue and growth targets.
  • Prepare executive business updates, investment proposals, and strategic recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate records of proposals, negotiations, approvals, and key commercial assumptions.
  • Evaluate the performance of newly launched initiatives and identify opportunities for further expansion and growth.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MBA or postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
  • 6-8 years of experience in account management, strategic partnerships, sponsorship, financial services or commercial relationship management.
