Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Lead Data Architect to join our APAC IT Data team. This senior role will drivethe architectural vision, design, development, and management of our client's Regional Data Platform and associated data pipelines across the APAC region. You will lead strategic initiatives endtoend-from scope definition and vendor evaluation to project delivery and ongoing platform evolution.
This is a highly visible and influential role that interfaces with enterprise architects, regional leadership, businessstakeholders, and external technology partners to advance our data strategy and elevate data maturity across the bank.
Key Responsibilities
Data Architecture & Platform Leadership
- Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of the Regional Data Platform on Azure and Databricks.
- Define and maintain architecture blueprints, standards, and best practices to ensure scalability, security, and performance.
- Oversee the full lifecycle of data platform projects.
Stakeholder & Governance Engagement
- Represent the APAC Data function in the Regional ArchitectureCouncil, presenting data priorities and contributing to enterprise-wide architectural standards.
- Collaborate closely with the Enterprise Architecture team to ensure alignment with the bank's global architecture principles and regulatory obligations.
- Partner with APAC country teams, head office, and project teams to drive coordinated and efficient execution of regional initiatives.
Business Engagement & Data Evangelism
- Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for data,advising business stakeholders on the strategic use of data to drive valuecreation.
- Promote a data-driven culture across the organization, enabling adoption of modern data practices and positioning data as a key enterprise asset.
Technology Horizon Scanning
- Continuously monitor the evolving data technology landscape to identify emerging trends, tools, and best practices.
- Evaluate new data solutions for potential adoption within the bank, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with leading data technology vendors and ecosystem partners.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related disciplines.
- Proven technical expertise in Azure data services (Data Factory, Synapse, ADLS, Purview, etc.) and Databricks (Delta Lake, Spark, Unity Catalog).
- Strong experience designing large-scale, cloud-native data platforms and pipelines.
- Deep understanding of data governance, security, and regulatory compliance in the financial sector.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-country or regional data transformation programs.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both senior technical and business stakeholders.
- Experience in the banking or financial services industry.
- Familiarity with modern data tooling (e.g., real-time streaming, ML Ops platforms, metadata management tools).
- Strategic mindset with the ability to influence and shape long-term data architecture direction.
