Engineering Manager (Construction)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Engineering Manager to lead all engineering, technical, and design coordination activities across our project site. This is a senior leadership role for a technically sharp professional who thrives in complex, fast-paced construction environments and takes ownership of delivering engineering excellence from inception through handover.
As the primary technical interface between the client, consultants, and site teams, you will drive multidisciplinary coordination across Civil, Structural, Architectural, and MEP disciplines ensuring every deliverable is executed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
What You Will Do
Engineering & Design Management
- Review and approve drawings, specifications, method statements, and shop drawings to ensure constructability and full compliance with project requirements.
- Manage the RFI process, technical clarifications, and design change workflows to ensure timely resolution and minimal disruption to construction progress.
- Oversee material submittals and approvals in coordination with the project schedule.
Cross-Disciplinary Coordination
- Lead regular engineering coordination meetings to align multidisciplinary deliverables with construction sequencing.
- Utilise BIM and digital coordination tools to proactively identify and resolve design clashes, reducing rework and cost exposure.
Technical Leadership & Site Support
- Provide authoritative technical guidance to site teams on construction methodologies, sequencing, and problem resolution.
- Support procurement in conducting technical evaluations of subcontractors and vendors.
- Identify, assess, and proactively mitigate technical risks that could impact cost, schedule, or quality.
Compliance, Quality & Handover
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with contractual specifications, local statutory regulations, and applicable codes of practice.
- Oversee inspection and quality assurance processes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead the preparation of as-built documentation and project handover packages to the required standard.
People Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Mentor, develop, and effectively allocate responsibilities across the engineering team to build capability and sustain high performance.
- Champion a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement on site.
- Deliver regular, clear technical updates to senior management and key project stakeholders.
What We Are Looking For
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil, Structural, or a related Engineering discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 1215 years of progressive construction industry experience.
- At least 5 years in a senior engineering or engineering management capacity.
- Demonstrated track record managing multidisciplinary teams on large-scale construction projects.
Skills & Competencies
- Deep expertise in construction methodologies, design coordination, and project management.
- Proficiency in BIM platforms and engineering coordination tools.
- Sound knowledge of local regulatory frameworks and statutory requirements.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and decision-making ability under pressure in fast-track environments.
