Engineering Manager

On behalf of one of its clients in the Retail industry, the French Chamber of Commerce is looking for an Engineering Manager.

Our client is looking for a technically grounded engineering leader to oversee its technology organization across the APAC region. In this strategic role, you will be responsible for driving the technical vision and ensuring the reliability and scalability of digital platforms operating across multiple markets in Asia.

Based in Singapore, you will lead and develop a distributed team of software engineers located across Southeast Asia. You will play a key role in connecting technology, people, and business objectives by shaping the long-term technical direction while mentoring and growing a high-performing engineering organization.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership

Lead and grow a team of 20+ engineers across multiple disciplines including web development, backend systems, mobile applications, DevOps, and platform support. You will oversee engineering managers and promote a strong culture of collaboration, quality, and technical excellence.

Architecture & Technology Strategy

Provide guidance on architectural decisions and contribute to the evolution of a modern, scalable cloud-based ecosystem, including the adoption of distributed services and platform modernization initiatives.

Platform Reliability & Scalability

Ensure the stability, performance, and resilience of the platform while supporting continued business growth and handling high traffic volumes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with senior leadership and international stakeholders to align technology roadmaps with broader business priorities and translate technical initiatives into business impact.

Technical Environment

Our client is seeking a leader who remains comfortable engaging with modern technology stacks, including:

Infrastructure: Cloud platforms, container orchestration

Backend: Modern JVM-based frameworks, event streaming, search technologies

Frontend / Mobile: Modern JavaScript frameworks and native mobile applications

Requirements

Technical Architecture Background

Strong experience designing and operating scalable distributed systems, cloud-native environments, and high-availability platforms.

Communication Skills

Full professional proficiency in English is required. Additional languages are considered a plus due to regular collaboration with international teams.

Experience

Approximately 8-10 years of experience in the technology industry, with a clear progression from hands-on engineering roles to engineering leadership.

Leadership

Demonstrated experience managing multiple teams or engineering managers within an international and distributed environment.
