My client is a fast-growing AI product company based in Singapore that's opening a new headcount for an Engineering Manager. The role will lead a boutique, high-impact team, offering significant ownership and influence over core systems and future growth initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Own the technical direction and execution of backend systems supporting a consumer-facing AI product, with an emphasis on scalability, reliability, and data governance across regions.
- Lead key infrastructure initiatives, including data and system migration as services are consolidated and expanded within the Singapore region.
- Drive backend development for product iteration and localization, supporting both local and international markets as the user base continues to grow.
- Partner closely with product, data, and operations teams to translate evolving business needs into practical, well-architected backend solutions.
- Ensure production excellence by establishing strong monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices, maintaining high availability for customer-facing services.
- Build, mentor, and grow a backend engineering team, setting high standards for code quality, ownership, and engineering craftsmanship.
- Contribute to longer-term technical and product discussions, helping explore new system capabilities and business directions as the company scales.
Job Requirements:
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience, with a strong foundation in system design and building production-grade services.
- Proficiency in at least one major backend language such as Go, Python, C++, or Java, with the ability to evaluate trade-offs and guide architectural decisions.
- Solid experience operating services in cloud environments, preferably with AWS or similar platforms, including storage, compute, and monitoring components.
- Demonstrated experience leading projects end-to-end, from design and implementation to production rollout and ongoing improvement.
- Prior exposure to consumer-facing (B2C) products, especially systems operating at meaningful user scale.
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers, with the ability to balance delivery, technical depth, and people development.
- Familiarity with modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, containerization, and distributed system operations.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to align technical execution with product goals and business priorities.
