Who We Are
Singapore Pools was established by the Singapore government on 23 May 1968 to provide safe and trusted betting to counter illegal gambling. As a not-for-profit organisation, it makes contributions to the Tote Board to fund a wide range of causes in social service, community development, sports, arts, education and health sectors.
Since 2004, over $5 billion have been channelled to the Tote Board. In addition, Singapore Pools also contributes about $2 billion annually to the Government in the form of taxes and duties. Its responsible gaming practices have been awarded the highest level of certification (Level 4) by the World Lottery Association's Responsible Gaming Framework since 2012.
Since inception, Singapore Pools staff have a long-standing commitment to doing good and giving back to those in need. Staff volunteers support activities held all year round, from helping disadvantaged children, youth-at-risk, underprivileged families, and elderly, to conserving the environment.
Job Purpose
The Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, supporting and continuously improving technology solutions within assigned systems, platforms, services or applications.
The role ensures that engineering deliverables meet agreed requirements, timelines, quality standards, security controls, operational supportability expectations and regulatory obligations. Engineers are expected to work collaboratively with business, technology and vendor stakeholders to support delivery outcomes and operational stability.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, configure, test, deploy and maintain application, platform or service enhancements in accordance with approved requirements and engineering standards.
- Support system integration testing, user acceptance testing, production deployment and post-implementation stabilisation activities.
- Provide 24/7 application on-call support when required and lead technical response for production incidents, recurring issues, service risks and operational stability concerns.
- Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve application, platform or service issues, defects and incidents.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, deployment notes, support guides and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with business, technology and vendor stakeholders to clarify requirements, manage dependencies and support delivery outcomes.
- Participate in code reviews, technical reviews, testing activities and quality assurance practices.
- Support operational readiness, system stability and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide timely updates on delivery progress, risks, issues and dependencies.
Who You Are
- Degree-qualified in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science or IT related discipline, with minimum 3 to 5 years of hands-on software engineering experience or practical exposure in developing and supporting enterprise, retail or customer interaction solutions across platforms.
- Working experience in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) within an Agile environment.
- Proficient in relevant technologies such as .NET Framework, C++. C#, ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET WEB API, MVVM, Entity Framework, LINQ, Java, JavaScript
- Experience in relational databases such as MS SQL and Oracle.
- Experience or practical exposure in developing, enhancing and maintaining client-server applications (Web, Windows), REST APIs, WPF, mobile applications or Content Management Systems (CMS), such as Drupal.
- Knowledge of Power Platform, Power Apps, Power Automate
- Knowledge of Enterprise applications such as CRM application, Contact Center application or Content Management system
- Ability to write and execute unit, integration and system test cases to validate assigned technical and functional outcomes.
- Knowledge of testing methodologies, engineering standards and automated testing tools is an advantage.
- Exposure to DevOps practices is a plus.
- Exposure to production support, incident troubleshooting and root cause analysis is a plus.
- Familiar with source control tools such as Git, SVN, TFS or equivalent platforms.
- Able to communicate technical matters clearly in verbal and written formats with internal teams, vendors and stakeholders.
- Able to work on assigned tasks independently while seeking guidance appropriately and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Good team player with a continuous learning mindset and willingness to build technical capability.
