Position Objective
- The primary role is to perform clinical embryology and andrology functions according to procedures and guidelines.
- This roles reports to the Lab Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the IVF and andrology laboratories (which includes audits by the relevant authorities and license renewals).
- Oversee staff and provide them with guidance and allocate work to them, including ensuring that they improve and grow professionally.
- Clinical work - perform all clinical embryology and andrology duties following appropriate training and competency assessment.
- Oversee the procurement of laboratory products and services.
- Adhere to all standard operating procedures.
- Inform patients of treatment options, treatment outcomes and discuss the implications.
- Meet laboratory Key Performance Indexes for all critical laboratory tasks.
- Participate in internal and external quality assurance and achieve a satisfactory level of performance.
- Assist in the implementation of decisions regarding the laboratory areas.
- Participate in the normal rotation of duties, including weekend work, on-call rotation and working on public holidays.
- Involve in patient and staff education and support meetings.
- Plan laboratory workflow.
- Contribute to the planning of clinical work schedules.
- Comply with regulatory requirements for documentation and record-keeping.
- Document all laboratory information accurately in patient notes.
- Collect and report laboratory statistical data accurately and completely as requested by the Scientific Director or Medical Director.
- Create a positive working environment and motivate and encourage members of staff.
- Commit to effective communication and cooperation within the laboratory team and other functional areas.
- Communicate effectively and politely with patients and oversee laboratory staff members.
- Communicate with external providers of genetic testing for PGT-A cases and obtain patient consent as required by the relevant regulations.
- Participate in laboratory and clinic-wide meetings.
- Build and maintain professional networks in order to assist in recruitment and develop a broad knowledge of developments in the assisted reproduction field.
- Build good relationships with suppliers to ensure good service and facilitate participation in trials.
- Actively assist in marketing efforts.
- Oversee and ensure smooth operations of the laboratory.
- Perform other lab-related duties as may be assigned in Singapore or other countries.
Requirements:
- Min 5 years experience
- Possess a Degree in Clinical Embryology, Biomedical Science, Life Sciences or its equivalent.
- Proficient in laboratory skills and policies specific to IVF procedures.
- Able to work independently and as a team.
- Have excellent manual dexterity and the ability to pay attention to detail.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with others.
- Able to communicate effectively.
- Due to the nature of work, flexibility in schedule is a requirement.
